Using bob ross landscape color for wet on wet oil painting technique.in bobs own words it should be very dry for technique to work. When I open tube oil with color spewed everywhere.grabbbed paper towel the oil was still running out onto me and all surfaces it took over 15 minutes to get it under control. I even mash tube with cap on to try mix it. No success had to finish my painting so had to put paint on card board to dry it out. Since had to use some i dont think it can be returned sad to say. Sounds like they need to do quality control on these paints something. I don't think bob ross would be happy his products are like this.." MUST HAVE THICK DRY PAINT FOR WET ON WET TO WORK" SAID BOB ROSS HUNDRED OF TIMES AT LEAST ... show more

I have read other reviews and people complained about bob ross paints being runny and messy. They are. Why are they? The bob Ross technique is wet on wet. The Bob Ross oil paints have been thinned or had a medium added to help with that. Other oil paints are much stiffer and you have to add your own medium to it. The fact it is thinned does have a down side. You can’t control the feel of the paint unless you want to make it more liquid. I received a tube of cad yellow and the thinner had leaked out all over in the packaging. I still use it but it is messy. ... show more

I mainly use Windsor Newton oil paints because they are firm paints that work great for the wet on wet technique. But for some reason, they don’t offer this color. I had tried the Bob Ross Indian Yellow(another color WN doesn’t offer) and was happy with its consistency, so I thought I’d give this color a try... It’s the right color, but very oily & thin. I may have to set this color out on cardboard instead of my pallet before using it to soak up the surplus of oil in it. So basically the Bob Ross brand paints are now “hit or miss” ... show more
