This is a good ladder however there are two ways it should be improved. 1. The safety handle should be a foot longer so you don't have to bend over when exiting the boat. 2.     • Wish I’d bought a long time ago
I fish a lot alone. When loading the boat I have to drive on the trailer and then get down it front and hook and crank. Then get back up on the boat to shut off motor and raise. What a difference as opposed to crawling on and off the front versus just stepping. I’m in my 60’s and still very active. But not having to crawl up and down is great. Install is easy. ... show more

I am 5'6 and 170lbs, which means on my 2017 Yamaha SX190 (19ft open bow) it can be difficult to reel in the boat on the trailer when recovering, as well as getting off the boat once hooked up to the trailer. These steps will help immensely especially with the grab handle with getting off the boat and onto a potentially slippery boat launch. I normally have to jump off or lower myself onto the trailer tongue, which is not safe. It may also help with something to hold onto while leaning over the bow to ratchet the boat onto the trailer and hook up the safety chain. The steps have a rubber texture which is great for grip, and the handle is secure for grabbing. My trailer has a swinging tongue, and to my delight the steps and handle fit on the tongue when completely folded, and the bottom step fits under the frame which is even better. Now the downsides. The bottom step flexes with all of my weight on it, and by most American standards, I don't weight a lot. It appears to hold me fine, but I would be cautious for bigger people. Next, it came with extra nuts and a bolt, make sure to only use the locking nuts, but to my disappointment they did not come with enough washers for every bolt. Could have just been my package though. The instructions are not very clear, but it is easy to put together and appears fairly heavy duty. No torque specs either, so I cranked everything down. The bolts are pretty much the exact length needed, so it was a little tricky getting the steps installed but it is doable. Overall, I recommend these steps for safety and accessibility, relatively easy to install, just be careful using the bottom step. ... show more
