    • Best flavor! Sometimes "name brands" are name brands for a reason
I did a lot of comparison shopping for various nuts recently and ended up buying both the Amazon house brand of smoked almonds as well as the Blue Diamond version. The Blue Diamond version tastes far better as far as both my wife and I are concerned. Of course, that is a matter of taste... but we both agree. We determined this by tasting them side by side, since we had both. If you didn't have both, you'd likely find the Amazon house brand to be just fine! We liked them. It was only when we tasted both together that we found out how much more we liked Blue Diamond. Now, about costs... I had purchased the Amazon house brand, thinking it was cheaper. But it appears that it wasn't, depending on the exact size bag. That is why we ended up buying both in quick succession and having them together to try them out. In fact, after doing a LOT of comparison shopping for various types of nuts, I found the Amazon provided price per unit calculations to be routinely WRONG. In at least one case, I mistakenly bought a substantially more expensive item thinking it was a deal. SO DO YOUR OWN CALCULATIONS ON PRICE PER UNIT!!! I have no clue how Amazon gets it wrong. I give them the benefit of the doubt that it is not intentional, but I know I could write a computer program that could calculate unit costs and do so for some standard unit so people could do real comparisons. That is what computers are good at, repetitious calculations! Just don't rely on the calculations that Amazon gives. Do your own calculations! In my case, I eventually decided that in many instances Blue Diamond Smoked Almonds were often cheaper in addition to being tastier! so buying these was a no-brainer. ... show more

I look forward to my mid-morning snack of a fistful of these almonds. Their smokehouse flavor is unique and leaves a lingering taste on my buds. Their crunchiness is proof of a just right level of roasting, and it make them so much more irresistible. The resealable pack is great (I usually prefer the 40 oz) and I ensure I squeeze out the air from the pack before I press the pack closed - typically by bending the pack over a chair arm with the open side on top, which helps to evacuate the air and seal the pack tightly. Always wipe off most of the salt with paper towels and store almonds in an airtight container.
