    • Not as durable as they used to be
I had a pair of Birkenstocks in the 90s that lasted my entire 4 year college career. These I’m told (bought for my fiancé) are very comfortable but here we are 11 months later and they are falling apart and the comfort has all left out of them. Flattened out, and the cork on the back is falling out. Will likely buy another pair, just be aware they don’t make them like they used to. ... show more

    • Synthetic upper - conflicting descriptions in listing.
The listing says that this shoe is suede, then says "Birko-flor" without explanation. Let me help with that - the upper is not leather. It is synthetic garbage. If I had noticed that the listing was inconsistent I would have never purchased these shoes. Synthetic uppers and overpriced.

This is my first pair of Birkenstocks. As I got them In January, I had no plans on wearing them until summer. Then COVID hit, and I decided to break them in in the middle of March and while at home for the next 3 months. They were only worn in the house. Never outside. I wore them instead of slippers. Imagine my surprise to find that after 3 months of indoor wear only, the sole is separating from the leather strap on the right sandal. The return window here closed after only a month, and after contacting Birkenstock, they won't stand behind their product, choosing to recommend taking the sandals to a shoe repair. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be buying another pair of $100 slippers any time soon. And if I do, it will be with a vendor who has a better return policy. ... show more
