Description

Wyld Stallyns couldn’t drag you away from this most excellent collection! From the past to the future, and to Hell and back… witness the triumphant travels of history’s most significant slackers Bill & Ted, in a bodacious, two-film Blu-ray set that’ll have you tuning up your air guitar for a stellar solo! Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure finds our non- heinous heroes (Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves) in danger of flunking History: a most odious proposition! But when the righteous Rufus (George Carlin) arrives in a time-traveling phone booth, the dense dudes discover their destiny… and call on the past’s biggest names for help! In Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the titular time travelers aren’t making history: they are history! When an evil- doer from the future sends eviller robot twins of Bill & Ted to assassinate and replace good, non-robot Bill & Ted, the guys wind up face to face with the Grim Reaper (William Sadler)! Can the now-dead duo escape, defeat their evil doppelgangers, and win their Battle of the Bands contest? Review Shout Factory have basically become the last bastion for quality catalog releases, especially now that major studios are resorting to MOD (manufacture on demand) BD-R’s and digital-only futures. They’ve really stepped up their game in the last year, too, and with the release of Bill & Ted’s Most Excellent Collection (which wholly lives up to its name, by the way) they apparently don’t have the intention of stopping anytime soon. The A/V presentation is better than expected, even for Bogus Journey. And supplements? Not only are most, if not all of the old extras accounted for, but Shout went to great lengths to produce a good deal of their own. This is one of the easiest ratings I’ve given to a release in a while: Highly Recommended. --DVD Talk, September 20, 2016

  • The Best Blind Buy you'll make all year Epic and Excellent 10/10
I pre-ordered The Bill and Ted's Most Excellent Collection blu ray at the start of the summer Direct from Shout Factory (mostly to get the Limited Edition Poster and Rufus Figure) at first i thought i over payed until i received a funky shaped box in the mail forget the Shout Factory Exclusive gimmicks aside The 3 Disc set is simply amazing and a must own for any/all fans Even if you are not into Psychical media (Blu-Ray, etc.) Get this sets it's the BEST Shout Factory non Horror Special edition they have ever put out it's simply flawless and close to perfect My three biggest gripes with this set No deleted scenes or even workprint footage According to Alex Winter and the director there a good amount of cut footage but, it's locked up somewhere which is strange since in the early days of the Internet a couple of dozen workprint cuts of films got out there and wound up in the wild But, the two Bill and Ted workprint cuts never seen the light of day, No original music videos for either film are in the set) Which is a real shame missing promo/music videos of Extreme "Play with Me" Vital Signs "The Boys and The Girls are doing It" Slaughter "Shout It Out" Kiss "God Gave Rock and Roll to you II" Also the Original Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure soundtrack was not re-issued/re-mastered for this Collection The original soundtrack is really awesome and deserves a fully remastered release maybe when the film hit's the 30th Anniversary will see that My review of the cd is on Amazon! Get it it's super dirt cheap now The set is also region locked (A) which sucks for people in the other region territories Disc One is Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is actually in Letterbox it looks better then it's ever looked (Is this the same print used in the previous MGM Nov 13, 2012 Blu-Ray?) That i have no idea i have the original MGM release but, never even cracked it open if it's a port from that then MGM for once did a very impressive job with a back catalog title The audio is presented in two options DTS HD 5.1 2.0 (Which might be the closest thing to the original theatrical version) The DTS 5.1 sounds perfect But, I'm a sucker for that audio format If you have a home theater system you'll pick up on lots more sounds and background noise the first movie also gives you two different audio commentaries Commentary for Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure with Star Alex Winter and Producer Scott Kroopf Commentary for Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure with Writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon Both new and exclusive to the Shout Select brand Disc Two is Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey This is the first time the sequel has been put onto blu-ray with the same two audio options DTS HD 5.1 2.0 along with two new exclusive audio commentaries Commentary for Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey with Star Alex Winter and Producer Scott Kroopf Commentary for Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey with Writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon Was able to watch the second disc PQ is really nice (This is the best I'm sure the film will look in my life time) Unless MGM actually scans and restore it in 4K I don't see that happening anytime soon One strange thing about Bogus Journey it's in full frame unlike Excellent Adventure which is in Letterbox Not a massive deal but, if you do a marathon and jump from the first film to the sequel it's a bit jarring and takes a few min. for your brain to process this.... Or maybe I'm just crazy?? Disc Three: Special Features **New** Time Flies When you are having Fun! A look back at a must excellent Adventure This is worth the price of the blu-ray set it's a hour long Documentary on Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (If you are a fan of recent Horror themed documentaries: More Brains, Crystal Lake Memories,Never Sleep Again, & Just Deserts, You'll love this it's a great interesting Doc. with everyone minus J. Patrick McNamara (Bill's Dad) Bernie Casey (Mr. Ryan) The two actresses that play the princesses RIP George Carlin (Rufus) (1937–2008) RIP Robert Barron (Abraham Lincoln) (1932–2000) Everyone else is in and it's interested and very enjoyable **New** Bill and Ted Go to Hell- Revisiting A Bogus Journey which is another 60minute documentary it's much like the first one awesome very interesting and fun look back at Bogus Journey a few original special features ported over from the now out of Print Bill and Ted dvd Collection then ported over to the original MGM blu-ray (Which was lack luster to say the least) ***Original extras are in SD so the footage is a bit jarring The Original Bill & Ted - In Conversation with Chris & Ed, Air Guitar Tutorial with Bjorn Turoque & The Rockness Monster , Overall this is the Complete Bill and Ted Set worthy to add to any collection It's missing the terrible live action FOX sitcom and the animated series But, for know it's still complete If you love both films i highly recommend getting both soundtracks or at least the first one If you love Bill and Ted get this set it's a real must have 10/10 UPDATE 9-22-2016 I've watched almost everything on each disc This is in fact a rare case when the title of the product lives up to what it is The set is what every die hard Bill and Ted fan has wanted over the last 25 years it's close to flawless the 4 Audio Commentaries are all solid and enjoyable The 3rd Disc does not have English speaking subtitles which sucks (I'm a little surprised by this since both films have subtitles) This is a shame both Documentaries on disc three are so enjoyable and fun not sure why they don't have subtitles ... show more

  • Excellent movies. Bogus disc manufacturing. [REPLACED AND WORKS]
Excellent movies. Bogus disc manufacturing. Second movie has a scratch between the metal and the plastic that could have only happened before pressing. Making the second movie unplayable. Amazon replacement was most excellent and all the discs worked this time.

  • a little disappointed with packaging
the case/packaging is weird. the case has two disc spaces with room for a center disc holder but all three discs were on a single spindle. i moved the disc for the first movie to the second spindle but the second movie and extras are both on one spindle. there is room for a center "sleeve" for a third spindle but it wasn't made use of. they're blu ray discs so they're more than likely safe, but i hate having discs share a spindle. just keep all this in mind because i had no clue that this was the way it was packaged and i'm disappointed to say the least. but great movies (obviously) so i'm satisfied. ... show more

  • A Most Excellent Collection, Indeed
Bill & Ted are two excellent dudes, and this two-film collection from Shout Factory is living proof of that. The two-film collection brings both films to Blu-Ray for (I think) the first time, and there's no way you should miss out on this collection; missing out would be most egregious. I loved the Bill & Ted films, and if you love films about having a good time and partying on, check out the Bill & Ted films in this collection! ... show more

  • There will never be a version to top this release
Shout Select knocked it out of the park with this release. The transfer on both films are the best I've ever seen. Substantial upgrades from the previous releases. The extras are fantastic. Believe it or not both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter take part in various interviews for both films and give a lot of personal insight. There are literally hours of content about each film and much of it is never before seen. There will never be a version that can top this release so go ahead and bite the bullet here folks. ... show more

  • EXCELLENT!!!!!!!
Finally broke down and got this and it's so amazing I'm angry with myself for not pre ordering it when it was released to get the Carlin figure. Box was a tad dinged but guys you get amazing packaging, 3 disc's, fantastic transfers of both films and kickass special features as well as a guitar pick and stickers. Shout Factory never disappoints. Splurge and get this ... show more

  • It’s a great time to be a movie collector!
Awesome 3-disc collection. For the longest time the only movies getting the souped up collectors editions with awesome new features we’re cult horror and exploitation movies. Now we’re starting to get releases of more mainstream cult movies like this and the 4K Ghostbusters collection. This collection in particular looks great and has 2 awesome hour long documentaries. It’s a great set if you’re looking to upgrade your old DVDs, or seeking out the lot of bonus features and commentaries that come with most SHOUT/SCREAM, and Arrow Video releases. This release also comes with 2 stickers and a guitar pick. You really can’t go wrong here. Get it! ... show more

  • Great collection
I have loved the Bill & Ted movies for years, but I never owned it. With the release of Bill & Ted Face the Music, I wanted to re-watch the originals and thought it'd be a good time to purchase. This is a great collection with fantastic cover art.
