  • Exactly what I hoped it would be (updated after 2 years of use)
I only just received this wallet today so I will be sure to pop back in with an update (or several) in the future...but so far it meets my expectations for a highly regarded $80 wallet. Leather: Initial impression is very nice. It is as nice as the "top grain leather" sonoma wallet I carried for literally 16 years prior to this. It feels and smells the way good leather should, and is relatively strong despite being so slim. Size: It really is just a little larger than a credit card or driver license in length/width, and seems to be as thin as you can get for the features present. This disappears in a pocket compared to my years old, old fashion billfold style wallet. Moderately loaded it is thinner and lighter than my old wallet empty. Capacity: I have a total of 6 cards and 7 FRN's (US bills) in it right now and it lies flat/closed when set on a table. One card in each quick slot, four on the right side underneath with the pull tab, and the 7 bills folded over in half (one fold) on the left. The bills protrude a small amount this way, which makes them easy to grab, but not so far as to interfere with the wallet closing. Color: After spending literally hours upon hours looking up pictures and videos of different colors as well as reading people's impressions of the colors new and with age I decided to play it safe with Java. This color may as well be called "wallet brown". This is only the third wallet I have ever owned and it is basically the exact same color as the other two. I really wanted tan but there is a lot of confusion between tan, tamarillo, burnt orange, and some other color that looks about the same whose name I forget. I couldn't find "tan" in stock anywhere and didn't want to take my chances on a really weird color with one of the others...but tamarillo (listed on Amazon currently) is intriguing. Overall Quality: So far, excellent. Good stitching, solid feel, looks and feels quality. *UPDATE March 2017* This is still my one and only wallet and it's still great. I currently have it relatively stuffed with 6 standard cards in the slide out, one standard card in each of the two quick access slots, and ten FRN's (ten US$ bills). The wallet closes flat under its own weight and is still in very good shape. It is completely broken in and the total of 8 cards + 10 bills is the maximum I want to put in it. It's really forcing me to keep my carry stuff trimmed down, which is a good thing because it's so much lighter and easier to pocket. *UPDATE July 2018* Still going strong. Nothing coming apart, holding up well, pullout tab for the ~6 cards on the inside still in perfect condition. I still max it out at at least 6 cards in the pocket, one card in each quick access (8 cards total) and a stack of bills. It has broken in nicely to where it lays perfectly flat on its own when I set it on a table now. ... show more

  • Best Slim Wallet I have found so far, and I’ve seen searching for YEARS.
Color: Black
I have been searching and yearning for slim, durable yet stylish and elegant wallets for a few years now. I saw in the reviews that it does not hold a lot of cards; well I have 4 cards right now and some cash PLUS a relatively thick Chipolo Find My card yet the wallet doesn’t feel bulky. The black leather feels premium I have to add. I am very happy with the product. I have only owned it for like a week tho so I can’t speak to durability but I have very high hopes. ... show more

  • Great minimalist wallet
Color: Cocoa-Java
I recently purchased the Bellroy Slim Wallet and I am thoroughly impressed with its sleek design and high-quality materials. I thought downsizing from a traditional bi-fold wallet would be tough, but I realized I didn’t need 3/4 of the stuff I had in my previous wallet. This wallet is perfect for anyone who prefers a minimalist approach to carrying their essentials. The slim profile easily fits in my front pocket, which is great for when I'm on the go and don't want a bulky wallet weighing me down. The wallet is well-designed and holds just the right amount of cards and cash for my needs. It has two quick-access slots that I use for my drivers licesnse and credit card, and a clever pull-tab section that keeps the rest of my cards organized and easily accessible. The wallet easily accommodates a few folded bills as well. The top-grain leather used to construct this wallet is of the highest quality, but means that it can wear and scratch easily. The leather lining adds a touch of elegance and ensures the durability of the wallet. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of the Bellroy Slim Wallet. It's the perfect choice for anyone looking for a slim, stylish and practical wallet. ... show more

  • 2 Year Update
After two years of using the Black leather Slim Sleeve, I'm very impressed. It's held up well to everyday use, and it's never gotten uncomfortable in my pocket. I haven't seen any significant wear, and I think it will last for years to come. I previously returned the Slate colored Slim-Sleeve and exchanged it for the Black. I am much, much happier with the wallet now, and have since updated my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. Here are some differences that I've noted: 1. The quality of the black leather feels incredibly different from the Slate. It's a little thicker, smoother, and softer. Honestly the Slate really fell short of my expectations, and hardly felt like leather. The black actually looks like a really nice wallet, and I imagine the other Naked or Dressed leathers feel the same. I feel a little better paying $80 for the black. 2. The black is a stiffer leather than the Slate. I find this to be a really good thing. Within three days of using the Slate wallet, I noticed that my cards had made indents in the leather that were very visible, and I haven't had this issue yet with the black. 3. The Slate wallet began to darken significantly after a week of delicate use, and I was not happy with the color. It almost started to look a bit green, which I'm guessing was the dyes that they used to make the wallet grey. The black still has a great shine, and has kept the distinct leather smell and feel. ****ORIGINAL REVIEW**** First off, I would recommend doing a little research on Bellroy's website before jumping in and buying one of these wallets. One of the things you need to know is that different colors of leather look and feel different. The different categories are Naked, Dressed, and All-Conditions. Naked leathers are much more prone to staining than others, and I find that they they darken significantly over time. Dressed are a bit shinier and better protected, and All-Conditions have a matte feel to them and almost feel fake. They repel water, don't scratch as easily, and supposedly hold up better than the other leathers over time. I didn't really find this to be the case, as my Slate wallet began to look very dirty and banged up after only a week of very delicate use. That said, I chose the Slate color. It has an off-white, slightly blue stitching to it. It appears white to the eye, but if you look close it has a slightly blue hue to it. I like the color, but it appears that my wallet was stitched slightly crooked, so it closes a little weird and one side hangs over farther. Also, my cards get caught on a piece of leather when trying to use the pull-tab (which I'm assuming is due to the crooked stitching). I docked a star for quality control, which I feel was poor for this expensive of an item. The leather started off extremely matte, and after a week or two began to take on some character and began to shine a little. However, the Slate started to take on a strange, slightly greenish hue. I can confirm that this is not from my clothing, and is most likely due to the dyes that were used. The wallet lives up to it's name in the slim department. I try to keep as few cards on me as possible, and the wallet holds them perfectly and fits into my pocket great. One of my great surprises when opening this wallet is how small it actually is, aside from how slim. It's really only a little taller and wider than a standard credit or debit card, which I was not expecting, but was a pleasant surprise. Personally, I feel really torn about this wallet. I want to absolutely love it, but the bottom line is that it's NOT an $80 wallet, especially after seeing other Bellroy wallets that have been used for a year or two. They generally don't wear very well due to the thin nature of the leather, and many people encounter stitching problems well before they should be having them. I see myself having to replace this wallet after maybe a year of regular use, which I feel isn't really acceptable for a wallet in this price range. It's a shame, because Bellroy has done a good job on just about everything, including the packaging, branding, and website design. My other gripe is the leather itself. It's decent quality, but it really doesn't have that buttery soft feel that you get from really premium and quality leather goods. I used to have a card holder that felt that way, and it lasted many years. I'm happy with the slim nature of the product, but disappointed with the quality control and price for what you're getting. Leather quality is just okay, nothing special. ... show more
