These boots are awesome. I was first introduced to them through the Walking Dead TV show actually. Shane used the high top version of these boots in Season 2, (maybe Season 1 as well). I bought my last pair about 2 years ago and they lasted two years of working a physical job. Bending, kneeling, walking 1000s of miles. The shoe laces do wear out quicker than the boots though, so you may need to eventually replace the shoe laces. I like these because when I tie them tight enough, they support my ankles. I recently started wearing sneakers after my last pair of Bate’s boots ran their course and I would notice sore ankles sometimes after a week of work in the sneakers… I like to workout on top of working a physical job so that was a no no! I reordered myself some Bate’s boots, re-lacing them as soon as I finish typing this! ... show more

I wear these on my security gig. Great comfort-was the only tactical boot I could find with a roomy toe compartment- safety toe requirements at work, not sure why but whatever. Very disappointed there is NO real leather on this boot. All fake, so if you scuff these like I did then there is no kiwi buffing them out. other than that, good boot. ... show more

This shoe is perfect for my job as a Telecom Technician. I climb ladders all day and walk a lot. I love the zipper on the side as it makes it easy to remove and put on shoe. Just don't install insoles from the beginning. I has previously used a certain insole as it helped to not have sore feet at end of day so I put one in this brand new shoe and began to have foot pain for a couple weeks. Decided to remove insole and now foot pain went away. Maybe wait till original insole is wasted then install new one. Other than that, this shoe is very good. Would buy again. ... show more

    • Most uncomfortable boot I’ve ever tried

Pain. Pain. PAIN! My only thoughts as I stood up from tying the laces in my new compliant work boots. Ow. Ow. OW! Continued my brain as I took a step. After my fourth or fifth step, my body began to panic from the pain and like a rabid monkey who accidentally snorted cocaine, I began to hyperventilate slightly as I untied the shoes as quickly as humanly possible to remove the sensation of extreme pain from my feet. I tried relacing. I tried moving the tongue. I tried meditation. I tried a multitude of ways to make this boot work. Nothing prevailed. It’s as if the boot was designed to cause inexplicable and extreme pain for any wearer for as long as the boot remained on the foot. I currently have an older pair of Bates boots that are non-zip. The soles are worn down. I work in the DOC and boots are a necessity. These returned boots are not bad but difficult to put on. I understand being new but when I got them on, they were extremely uncomfortable too. The zipper was difficult to function. When I asked my co-workers, without a delay, each said the lower quality of Bates boots actually work better that the new ones. I chose to return them and find a better option. I have struggled to find a service boot that has a side Zip feature at a shorter height. This one checked that box. I find the shorter boots more comfortable to wear during the Texas summer heat.
