I needed an additional secure storage locker for some of my long guns - this seemed the best buy for the money. The package arrived exactly as scheduled, and was undamaged. Packed in a sturdy carboard box, with about an inch and a half of standoff from the box sides thanks to a thorough framework of styrofoam, the cabinet itself was quite unmarked. Easy set up & securing to wall/floor, necessary hardware included. The door locks convincingly. While a professional thief could get inside, I think that the relatively heavy gauge steel and multiple locking lugs would deter "casual" attempts at entry by children or the average thief. Great safe. Really good quality for the price. Bolted it down and can’t imagine using it without doing so as it will tip over easily if not bolted. Also thieves can carry it away easily if not bolted. Keypad interface Works perfectly, not sure about the bad reviews on here, maybe those units were damaged in shipment and are now customer service issues. But the safe is great for what it is and that’s a Mid-level of security. It’s obviously not a Fireproof vault, but it’s not just a flimsy locking cabinet either. It has four locking pins and Heavy gauge steel door that can’t be pried open with normal pry bar. Also when properly bolted to the floor joists or wall studs, it’s impossible to pry off without major tools and a lot of time. Great price on Amazon from the Barska store. I also like their other products bags, tactical gear etc. The Company has been around for a long time and makes high quality gear. ... show more

Safe pin code was easy to set. Locking bolts seem decent, steel is what you would expect for 14 gauge. One disappointment was that the mounting hardware is only bolts and anchors for wood, so if you want to bolt to a concrete floor you’ll have to head to Home Depot for the proper anchors.

    • Only two keys on the keypad does work.

Wires messed up in the back panel. Only 2 keys on the keypad works. Spend my whole night to fix it my self. Find out lock is super low quality when disassembling it. Good prise only. Can not even call it a safe. Better call it a toy. Well it’s a good container to keep ur kids away.

It’s exactly what I needed for my few guns, lock box of valuables and rifle. I like I could have 2 codes that way if my adult kids need to get in there they have their own personal code. It was easy for me to move empty but not when it was filled and locked.

    • Meets the California requirements for gun safes

I picked this because it is specifically listed as a safe meeting the guidelines for California gun safes. It arrived in good condition (box had some dings but nothing on the safe) and I was able to move it into the space I had set aside for it. I had a couple non-deal breaking problems. The first was that when I tried to remove one of the shelves, I realized it was only attached at one side. The other side had the bracket and even the bolt, but no one had added a nut to keep it in place. Since I wanted to remove it anyway, it was not an issue. This would probably have not been an issue for a lot of people, but I have some longer rifles. The bigger problem I had was in trying to set the code. It just would not take the code I wanted to enter. After some back and forth with the manufacturer it turns out the batteries that came with it were defective. In the end the company was decent to work with, but it was obvious that they didn't actually look at the attachments I sent (per their requests). All in all it worked out and the safe was the size I needed, it wasn't a big deal to get around the issues I encountered so I am happy. ... show more

Style: Keypad 14-Position
To start off with the bad parts first. You have two options to bolt the safe to the floor, or through the back of the safe. The problem is, the back is 13.5" on center. In the instructions even say 16" on center, so in other words you will only get at the most 2 holes to bolt down. Maybe it's a problem Maybe it's not. I didn't bolt to the floor for reasons I didn't feel like drilling holes in my floor. It's still an option if need be. The rack says it holds 14 rifles, but depending on what rifles you have, you will not get that many in there. More like 10 at the most, which is still ok but not what they advertised. What I like about it. They include 4 AA batteries, the set up for the code was easy, there's a little compartment for more storage. There's also a set up for pistols. So like I said, it's "okish" The thing I'd like to see improvement on is the space for the bolts in the back to be set up for 16" on center. That for me is a big down fall. The racks for the rifles either give me more space or advertise that it's for less rifles. ... show more

This is an updated review. Initially I was under the impression that the safe shipped with a factory set code. I was mistaken. In my defense, the instructions are not at all clear. In Barksa's defense, they actually responded to my not so nice email within about five (5) hours and explained the situation to me.
