  • Looking for a Long Time!
Being a vet and an amateur radio operator, I have been looking for this type of handset for a while. Finally found one! Although this is limited to mainly the UV-5R radios I have, this thing rocks. First, the design is perfect. Great match for the H-250. Fits hands great, and the PPT button is convenient and easy to use. Perhaps a little on the flimsy side, but should hold up over time. Sound quality is outstanding both inbound and outbound. Having hearing issues, this thing is loud! Responds well to the volume control and starts with what appears to be a small gain vs. standard output. Vocal quality is very good as well. Construction is solid. Seems like it should hold up too many outings. Right now, it is a "home base" style setup on my office desk, but anxious to take this into the field. Only wish this same company made adapters for other radios like Yaesu 8XX series. had to source a Chinese group for that. Price point was fantastic. Made the decision to purchase very easy. A must have for any sort of military/radio enthusiast!!!! Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Cool looking
Great looking piece but audio quality is not the best. Feels cheaply made but I’ve never had a problem with it. Would recommend if looking for that style handset for a portable radio.

  • Works but rattles
When I took it out of the packaging, I noticed the ear piece would rattle around inside the handset. It works for both transmit and receive but I'm worried about how long it will continue to function with that speaker loose inside. I know from my Army days that I could unscrew both the speaker and microphone covers but I can't seem to unscrew these. If I could, I'd glue it into place. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them. ... show more

  • Good microphone
Does what it was designed to do. A classic banana phone.

  • Poor soldering!!!!
The media could not be loaded. Mine came in one piece. While the speaker worked, the transmit button on the handset did not. I tried with a good pair and everything worked normally. TO FIX: unscrew the two screws that hold the transmit button together. take apart the assembly and watch out for the loose plastic cap unwrap the circuit board the loose wire was a blue one for me and I was able to test it by holding the end of the loose wire to what seemed to be a broken solder joint and it worked fine. heated it back up added a drop of solder, tested fine, wrapped it up and screwed it back in. For $20 it's a disappointment I had to resolver something FUNCTIONS: Have not tested transmitting clarity but the speaker is plenty loud. I've seen some reviews saying it's quiet but I bet that's just another weak solder joint too. Hope this helps and I hope they lower the prices on these ... show more

  • Just like the clunky thing on my SINCGARS Charlie model!
I'm working on a jeep-like vehicle, and just for kicks, I wanted to give it military-style communications without spending big bucks. I learned about the Baofeng radios and quickly discovered that you could get a fairly powerful, good-quality ham radio for not much. While investigating all things Baofeng, I came across this headset, which strongly resembles the old SINCGARS clunky plastic thing I used to have duct taped to my chinstrap in my RTO days. I had to have it, despite memories of an aching back as I lugged that POS around, chasing my PL. I ended up with an AR-152 that looked a lot like my Harris at the end of my career, and I stuck the wonderfully retro headset onto it on the dash of my vehicle. Yes, it works great. No, it's not quite as purely industrial as the old Army headset, but it's good enough. Recommended for those who spent a while lugging around the Charlie model, and want a laugh every time they use it! ... show more
