    • These shelves are nice but the instructions leave a lot to be desired

If their instructions were more detailed, I'd give it five stars but for those that don't know how to install a shelf properly, it will get them frustrated. First, you need more than just a screw driver, as stated in the instructions to hang these properly. Yes, you can do it without other tools but it would be very difficult and the end result wouldn't be acceptable. You need, as they said, a Phillips screw driver, preferably a medium to small bit size but longer than you'd think, longer is better here because one of the screws goes in right at the bottom of the shelf and I couldn't get my hand in there with a shorter screw driver. Then you need a drill with a 9/32 drill bit to drill the holes for the anchors and you need a small bubble level, about nine inches long is perfect and lastly, a pen, pencil or a scribe to mark the wall where the anchors go. If you want to use a drill as a screw gun, you need a long shank screw bit because I had a hard time getting my drill in close for the top right screw on the mounts. I needed a bit extension. Other than the complaints above about the poor instructions, these shelves mounts nice and they look sturdy for basically anything you could fit on them in the bathroom. ... show more

It was easy enough to install, and works fine... but strangely enough there was this gross, sticky black coating all over the wood that got all over my hands. A quick wash in the sink got rid of it, but ew! You'd think they'd clean it before shipping it out. I think it was residue from whatever wood stain or protectant they used... ... show more

The shelf serves its purpose and looks decent. We put it in our laundry room to hold supplies, and I accidentally let a drop of fabric softener spill onto the shelf, then when I wiped it up I noticed that the wood stain came off on my rag. I don't think we'll be spilling things on the shelf often, but just an FYI for any cleaning sprays you might use on it. ... show more

I purchased this shelf to add some functional space to my tiny work from home office. My desk is 3ft, 3inches wide and 15 inches deep so I needed a way to maximize space. This tiny bamboo shelf fit the bill! Installing this is as simple as it gets. I used a power drill because I am lazy, however the instructions indicate you can just use a regular screw driver. I am terrible when it comes to home improvement projects and even I failed to screw this up. I am the kind of guy who starts a project then 5 minutes in needs to call his cousin for help. The shelf is sturdy, it looks nice and it does its job of hanging off the wall securely while holding things. Some reviews mentioned splinters. The wood is rough, but this is part of its look. Never run your hand hard against rough wood. Again, I want to emphasize this shelf is meant to have an aged look. You will have to purposefully try to harm yourself to get splinter(s) from this. As in run your hand hard against the grain. As with most products these days, the instruction manual itself is not all that useful. Luckily, its just 2 legs and a couple screws so not alot of stuff involved here. Youtube is a great resource. ... show more
