    • The Good, Bad, and Overall...
The Good: Ordered for use as a green screen. I have a studio, but wanted something I could set up remotely. I like that this is easy to break down and comes with tension clamps; to help remove wrinkles. It's very light and easy to toss into the back of the vehicle. The Bad: I work on a military base in the Middle East and sometimes my packages get misrouted. I received this nearly 5 months late, and ordered a replacement 30 days before this arrives. So now I have a back up. Overall: Comes with everything you will need for either hanging a backdrop for an event, or a green screen. I have a wall in my studio dedicated for recording, but this allows me to set up in a spare office for quick projects and product reviews. I'm happy with it. ... show more

I own other tripods and this one and the most versatile. I use it with to hold my iphone and it works great! There is a way to tighten it so the iphone does not move. My other tripods professional grade and this one is just as good. I did not have to purchase a separate adapter for my i phone. I definitely recommend this tripod to amateurs and professionals alike. ... show more

    • Stable and great height
My use of light stands like this is a bit different than most. I am not a photographer nor have a need for have a need to hold a light. However, I've found great use for such stands for other purposes. The primary purpose I have for this type of stand is to get some height on a ham radio antenna. Attach a VHF/UHF antenna at the top, put it at height, and you'll get much better reception. I've found this to work so well that I've had that type of setup in my attic for 3 years. Initially, it was meant for a temporary setup, but it worked so well I've never changed it. The only problem is my light stand was no longer usable for other things, so I picked this one up and intend to keep it for more temporary, portable operation as I had originally intended for the first. The stand is quite nice. It requires no assembly as it's all put together. There is one additional piece that can optionally screw on the top, but that depends on your need. Simply loosen the screw on the side and slide the legs down, then tighten it back up. Slide the top telescoping poles up to get the height you want and then lock them down. Everything seems quite stable. It comes with a very nice carrying case for portability. In addition to my antenna use, I intend to use it for holding a laser level when I'm hanging shelving and such, as well as to hold my portable projector that we use in the back yard for movie night at the pool. Unlikely I'll find use in photography lights though. ... show more

    • Great stand, poor light/camera ball adapter
Bottom line - would recommend, but would not use the included ball adapter unless using something very lightweight. I am an amateur photographer who mainly does family photos and landscape photography. I have slowly been building out my equipment to include backdrops/stand, lights, etc. This stand seemed like my next investment, as I had been using an a-frame ladder to mount my light to. This stand overall is very well built, easy to setup and has a ridiculous max height...it can touch my 9 ft ceiling without maxing out its height. The tripod legs also seem very stable - though with any stand, I would recommend a weight on the base (sandbag,etc) to prevent it from tipping if using outdoors or with a heavier light/camera attached. The stand folds down to fairly small for easy portability...measuring approx 38" tall and 3" wide/deep. The bag includes a shoulder strap making it easy to sling over your shoulder to transport. Now, my biggest gripe...the included ball head adapter. It seems to be inferior quality compared to the stand itself and cannot be fully locked down...no matter what, anything that is mounted wobbles and can actually rotate a little (and it is not unscrewing at all when it rotates). Maybe mine is defective and other people are getting a good one...but looking at the build quality, I don't think this is the case. Overall, this is a great stand, just marred by a subpar ball mount. I still plan on using this, but just with a lightweight LED light. ... show more

Expect what you pay for. The metal sounds tinny and the spring sound is noticeable. The poll felt very stiff when trying to extend it. Calling this a heavy duty light stand is questionable. The diameter of the poll is what you would expect from a heavy duty light stand but the quality of the metal feels cheap. I would not trust this with large modifiers and expensive strobes in the outdoors. Use it in a studio with not so large modifiers and you will be fine. One plus, it does come with an average carrying case. So, at this price point, use this light stand knowing it's not the best but not the worst either. ... show more

    • Solid value and an amazing price
It's really hard to find a rugged light stand anywhere near this price range, so I had to check this out. I was not disappointed. This is pretty well made - it's not going to eclipse a really expensive model - but it sure gives the more expensive stands a run for the money. My observations: the unit I received appeared quite durable, and I expect it will hold up and last a long time. No problem with steadiness. The included bag is a budget bag, but I'll take it.
