I wanted something to protect an expensive pair of binoculars (I have a roof prism Vortex Viper HD 8x42). The binoculars came with a nice harness but that doesn't really protect the binoculars from serious knocks and drops. This case is professionally made, will last a life time, and can even accommodate a neck strap which is sold separately (part number CS/500 available on the web) and slides into slots on each side of the case. The handle is rubberized and feels great. It is also waterproof/dust proof which is why it's called "Outdoor Case" by the manufacturer. I also have one which houses a small digital tape recorder, and it would fit a small camera and maybe a small DSLR body and small lens. The only negative I can think of is it makes a loud click sound when you close the clasps, so if you're out in nature that might scare away the birds you're watching with the binoculars. Other than that (and the fact it's a bit on the expensive side) I have no reservations. ... show more

Bought this case at a local store. I bought it to store a handgun. The construction seems rugged and the foam squares are perfect for customized protection. The only thing I don't like is that the holes used for a lock are too small for any of the padlocks that I have.
