From unpacking to finishing putting together with two people, 2-hours & 20-minute! Kuddos to the lady that said it took her 30-mins! The picture instructions aren’t clear enough and you have to keep going over and over them to try and figure out what to do. The final step of putting handle on took awhile to figure out how to get the cotter pin in the area it needed to be in. Although I read the measurements and measured the wire shelf I was replacing this is much smaller than I was expecting. I actually need two of these to make the same shelving space I had. HOWEVER, I won’t order another, one price and two the putting together frustrations. While this has a lock, I wouldn’t expect it to protect anything of value. The way the doors are attached wouldn’t take much to break into this cabinet. Good for storage only and to keep kids from getting in if you were to lock it. The packaging was excellent, got everything needed to put together and the unit was not damaged from shipping. After reading reviews on how easy the shelves scratch I will put some sort of liner on the shelves to protect them. I still want them to look nice even though this is in the garage. On the plus side, this cabinet was very easy to assemble, and I thought the picture-only instructions were quite good. A small amount of assistance was needed in the first several steps, to hold the sides upright while the unit was still lying on its back, until the floor frame piece was attached to hold them in place. The black finish is nice. The tall pieces seem somewhat flimsy, but once it's assembled it seems fairly sturdy overall, for such a lightweight unit, good enough for our purpose (storing household supplies). On the negative side, I was amazed at the number of dents, despite the fact that the package arrived via FedEx in very good condition, no damage from mishandling in shipping, and despite the fact that everything was packaged very well. There is no way the dents occurred in shipping. It's a quality control issue at the factory - the parts are being damaged by the people fabricating them and/or the people handling/packaging them. I was able to partially fix some of the dents, so it looks good enough to set in our garage, but it's not perfect. And if you buy it, expect to live with what you get, because you basically have to destroy the shipping carton to open it. The long side flap and end flaps are competely glued down, and even if you could reuse the box, good luck trying to repackage everything after inspecting all the parts. The dimensions are not what are advertised. It is advertised as 72x32x16 inches. It is actually less than 71" tall, so saying it's 72 is false. The width is about 31.5" (okay, we can round to 32). The overall depth is about 15.75", but you need to be aware that the actual shelves are only 14" deep. Try to put something wider than that on them and you won't be able to close the doors. As for the weight capacity, I'd like to see someone attempt to store 180 lbs on one of those shelves! I don't think it's possible. And I don't think the cabinet structure could withstand 900 lbs total. Again, we're just storing household supplies, so we're not loading it nearly that heavy and it's fine for us, but I wouldn't risk testing the claimed weight capacity. Overall, I'm glad I was able to use a promotional discount and several coupons to reduce the price significantly. Otherwise, I'd say it's not worth the money. ... show more

This storage cabinet did not come with a manual. I used a YouTube video with a similar cabinet but different color and instead followed those instructions to put this cabinet together. Pretty straightforward but some minor details that needed more clarification was seeing how the shelves were placed inside and how certain parts needed extra screws. For example, for the shelves I wasn’t sure if the metal mounts all needed to be used because in the video I saw only two being used and the shelf was wobbly. Instead, I looked at other people’s reviews and noticed how other people used 4 metal mounts and the shelf was sturdy. So that solved my shelf problem. Another problem, I ran into was running out of screws, I needed 2-3 more. I ended up using some screws I had at home that were somewhat similar to those provided. One last thing, other reviews mentioned that a certain part at the bottom of the cabinet needed to be screwed but, did not have a hole to screw into so I ended up just making a new hole. Overall, I think I would recommend this cabinet if you want the lock and key features of the cabinet. The shelves are sturdy once placed correctly so I guess that’s a plus. I am a 65 year old woman who does have experience putting furniture together for myself. The product was packaged very well and the pieces were well marked. I did have trouble with the assembly in two different places. One was attaching the back pieces to the frame. The pictures (there is no wording, just pictures) were not sufficient for me to easily understand what I was supposed to do. It took a number of attempts and some amount of frustration to get it done right. The second was with the handle mechanics. I wound up having to call my neighbor who is a retired contractor. I figured he would be familiar with it and luckily he was. Between the two of us I was finally able to get it done correctly. It is very sturdy, held all of my items that had been in my previous shelving unit, plus had room for a bit more. I am happy with my purchase, and if I had enough room I would probably purchase another. ... show more

    • Okay if you need a locking storage cabinet to keep casual snooping out

I wouldn't buy this if you have stuff you need to keep locked away from anybody determined, but if you just want to keep stuff locked so casual snoops won't look inside? This is fine, and while it's not "portable" you can move it around if need be. It suits my needs just fine.
