This Atlin mug has been a fantastic purchase that I use daily. It does an excellent job of keeping drinks at their desired temperature for a long time—if you put an icy drink in it, you might still find ice cubes the next day. The tumbler doesn’t condense on the outside and comes with a straw and a cleaner, which is a nice bonus. The insulation is solid, though I’ve noticed that the rubber seal around the lid occasionally slips out of place. It’s easy to fix, though, and doesn't take away from the overall quality. I've purchased two times and it's worth every cent. My husband works in a auto shop with concrete and would drop his cups and was replacing them every month and this is not an understatement. The first Atlin lasted 7 years and the thick plastic lid finally developed a small hairline crack because my son threw it out of a moving car. He's autistic/ adhd and Dad gave him a drink and he slung it out and we went back to retrirve it. My son had previously threw this cup a number of times, even tossed a two story deck one time. My husband dropped it hundreds of times and it never had a dent. I replaced it because of the small crack in the lid and also because the rubber ring wasn't getting as clean as I'd like. He was still using his old one and didn't feel it needed replacing. I felt like 7 years and it was due for a new one. My hubs is really cheap and prior to buying the Atlin tumbler he would never spend more then $10 or less on one and it was always low quality. I wanted to get a durable one and this was the best according to research I did (for budget anyway). His 2nd cup he's had 2.5 years and still looks great. He's already gotten his monies worth, that's for sure. I'll continue to buy these as long as they make them. They don't rust either!!! Negatives.. The only negative I can think of is that according to my hubs, he doesn't think drinks stay cold as long after using the cup a few years. There's no damage at all. He just doesn't think drinks stay as cold as they used to. I think this is the same even for higher $ cups. I've also hoped this company would make ones a little smaller and different colors because I'd definitely buy myself one. I cannot rate less then 5* because this is one of the best purchases I've made for my husband. He loves his cup and it goes everywhere with him.     • Tumbler stays cold and is sturdy!
I purchased this a little over a month ago and waited to write the review so I could see what I really thought. I wanted a tumbler that would keep the drink cold and hopefully keep the ice in as well. It's done a good job. Since the top isn't completely covered and is plastic, it may not stay ice cold as long as fully covered insulated water bottles, but it does very well. AT HOME -I've left this out all day and if I put a lot of ice in it to begin with, the ice can last almost all day. -Even if the ice has melted, the drink is still cold. IN THE CAR -I've left this out in the car in the heat of the summer (110+ degrees) for a couple of hours and still have cold water. -Obviously, if left in a really hot car, the outside is super hot and the straw is really hot at first as well. However, as soon as I sip it, it cools right down! It's a great sign of how good the insulation is to have the outside so hot to touch (100+ degree heat outside=VERY hot car) yet the inside still has nice cold water. The things I love about this: -the metal straw. It's good, sturdy, and makes my water seem even colder when I have a straw that gets colder with my drink! -the scrub brush for the straw. I like that I have an easy way to keep it clean! So far the only downside is that it doesn't stay cold as long as fully covered insulated water bottles. But that's not what I bought, so I can't expect that! Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. Great price, great product. ... show more

    • Great around the house, not sure about travel.
Am writing this upon request. I was in an unexpected need for a replacement travel mug and this one kept popping up in my research with positive reviews so that encouraged me to give it a try. I've only had it for one day, but so far am impressed with it. It is simple and plain, but designed very well in my opinion. The lid is not leakproof, but it is not designed to close, which may be important to you. I only plan to use it here at home so that is not important to me. It arrived on time, with the packaging in good order. As advertised, it came with a nice metal straw and companion straw cleaner. They looked to be in good working order, but I don't plan on using them, so can't speak to their functionality. As for actual use, it has so far kept my drink cold for the entire morning, although, since it doesn't have an airtight lid, I suspect it will warm up a bit sooner than those styles that do have airtight lids. All edges are rounded and thus comfortable to hold over a length of time. It cleans up easily by hand and seems to dry fairly quickly. The plastic lid is transparent and very sturdy. Goes on and off easily but stays put once on. Overall, I am very pleased with it. However, I am not sure if this would be my first choice if I were to use it anywhere but home. It is all metal with no handle, which I feel would be hot or cold, depending on the weather, to hold. Additionally, I could see that without a handle, if it became wet on the outside, could be slippery and difficult to hold. Of course, the open lid design makes it impractical for some travel situations. As well, I understand it is double-walled, not triple, which I would prefer for travel. Therefore, I don't see it as a good travel choice for me. However, for daily use around the house, which is what I wanted it for, I think it will be superb and recommend it for that purpose. ... show more
