I needed new boat/yard shoes for the summer. My old similar shoes had come apart. I ordered these but was concerned they might break. I have worn them for many hours and, so far, they are holding up well. Based on the performance so far, I would buy them again.

I ordered a size 9 for these shoes and have to adjust rear strap and top drawl strap all the way to get a good fit. If you have a narrow foot like mine, consider 1/2 size smaller. Other than that the shoes are comfortable and I like construction.

    • Slick as oil on wet rocks
I bought these for the sole purpose of river walking, so spending hours walking through river beds in ankle - waste/chest deep water. Lots of rapids, currents and wet rocks. As a sandal out of the water these are great; I wore them for a couple days, all day, and had no parts of the sandal rub me wrong which is always a good sign. I should have looked more closely at the sole though as that is what disappointed me. The sole appears to be a molded plastic with some rubber but the design is not conducive to being good for wet rocks. The first wet rock I stepped on I slipped and spent the rest of the day slipping and falling. I grabbed a walking stick from downed wood and that was the only thing that kept me on my feet some of the time, the shoes were just too slippery in the water and I even fell a couple of times even with the stick. One good point of them in the water is that they shake out nice, so if you get some sand or little pebbles in through the holes that get stuck under your foot, just a few shakes in water and it will all come right out.     • You get what you pay for
I was trying to replace a pair of favorite closed-toe Merrill sport sandals that I used for ten years. I am EXTREMELY fussy about shoes so read this with that in mind. When I ordered the exact same size of Merrell’s latest closed to sandal, it was either too small or too big (I ordered two pair and returned both). I thought I would take a chance with these since by the photo they appear similar and have surprisingly favorable reviews. But these are not for me. The support is weak compared to a superior brand. The sole is too stiff. The elastic laces do not allow one to sufficiently tighten the show to provide better support. The leather is stiff and looks and feels - well, cheap, like imitation. End result: you get what you pay for. If you can be satisfied with fair quality at a fair price, go for it, and good luck. But if you want a sport sandal that fits wel and lasts for 10 years with heavy use - including ten mile day hikes - then make the investment in a superior sandal. Three stars because it is average/acceptable bit nothing special. (My apologies to the manufacturer for a mediocre review. I understand that you are working with several constraints, but I want to be totally honest for the sake of potential customers.) ... show more

    • No Tevas or Keen but close enough
I like wearing sandals with close toe and lots of straps around the foot. I usually buy Tevas or Keen which are great but expensive. I saw these on Amazon and decided to take a chance. I have been wearing them now for about a month and they have held up pretty good. I do a lot of yard work and it's a big yard. Lots of dirty jobs in hot, wet, dusty, dirty conditions. These sandals aren't as beefy as the Keen or the Tevas but for the price difference I think they are a good choice. I doubt there is much real leather but the materials so far are holding up though some rough work. The first thing that usually goes on sandals is the soul comes unglued but so far no problem. I think the weakest point might be the heel strap. It's holding up fine now but it's not the thickest material and I have a feeling it might be the first thing to go. Regardless I like the shoes and I am putting them though some pretty harsh treatment. For the price if they last a year I'll be happy. I'm going to buy another pair just as a backup. ... show more
