Description

The ROG Azoth is where custom DIY mechanical keyboards meets high-end gaming. Unlike the traditional mechanical keyboards, the ROG Azoth comes with an extra PORON foam. Three layers of dampening foams absorb noise, bringing a better typing experience. The ROG Azoth is a 75% custom DIY mechanical keyboard. You can swap and install your own switch type according to your preference. Come with a tri-mode connectivity method, OLED display, and a full DIY lubing kit for your switches. The ROG Azoth is your next gaming keyboard for the next chapter of your gaming journey! • Amazing keyboard, but no hall effect switches
Pattern: Azoth Style: Snow Switch-Refined linear Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. NOT AFFILIATED WITH ASUS Switches: The sound test provided was with the snow switches, which sound better than some of the custom keyboard I have. The keys are smooth to press and satisfying to play with. Wireless capability: The wireless is absolutely amazing where I can pick it up whenever I want and move it around. I haven't had any latency issues and some tests say the wireless performs better than wired. Case material and durability: It's weight is light, and it's pretty compact with it's plastic bottom and metal top. The reason for the plastic bottom is for the wireless connectivity and surprisingly the plastic feels really nice and seems like it won't break anytime soon. The whole build is dense while being light ensuring durability. Keyboard looks: The case is aesthetically pleasing where you have a graphical design on the back, and the top of the case looks unique with the oled screen. RGB: The RGB is north facing which is not preferred but I personally don't mind. The RGB lighting is bright but I turned it down to save on the battery life. The battery supposedly lasts a month before requiring a charge which I believe. OLED screen: The OLED screen is pretty useless on the wireless mode of the keyboard as you cannot see the stats of your PC, which are only available on the wired mode. You can change the lighting of the RGB, OLED screen, change the volume on the PC, and even change the animation. On the wired mode you get to change what was previously said, and you can display PC stats such as date and time, CPU and GPU temps, a custom animation, and I'm pretty sure that's it. Armory crate: 😒 I hate armory crate. You don't need it to do basic functions on the keyboard, as the OLED screen is more than enough to control it. You need the dreaded armory crate if you want to show a custom animation and I'm pretty sure PC stats too. Armory crate for me has always been a hassle to me for use, as one time I had to completely reinstall windows to even have it install correctly. The full package version can't even install on my PC. Even when installed, the software is super buggy and sometimes doesn't recognize my motherboard. It's been buggy for years. So, why did I return it? I am a competitive gamer that plays a wide variety of games including R6, CS:GO, Valorant, and more. Hall effect switches only really have an effect in CS:GO, Valorant, or any other game that requires precise movements. In Rainbow 6, I notice I play better with the hall effect keyboard as the keys are sensitive and allows me to lean faster and move quicker. Some people say hall effect is a gimmick but I say it's worth it for me. It's definitely not worth it for the average gamer. Alright, here are my ratings for the keyboard: Case design: 9/10 Wireless connectivity: 10/10 Switch feel and sound: 9/10 Durability and density: 9/10 Price: 8/10 (Should be $200 USD) RGB: 8/10 (average RGB) OLED screen: 7/10 (Should display PC stats on wireless) Overall: 9/10! Final remarks: I just love how it looks personally, I might have to buy it again to add to my collection later this year 🙂 ... show more

  • I'm pretty impressed, didn't expect this from a gaming keyboard
Pattern: Azoth Style: Snow Switch-Refined linear Color: Black
With the Snow switches, the board has a really pleasant sound signature in my opinion. Has a good thock to it and I had no stabilizer rattle on any of them. Their factory lubing was good, I ended up lubing everything all up myself just to be sure and I found no difference in the sound and feel. It has a good heft to it and I like how the top layer of the board is metal. It's understandable the bottom layer is plastic because if it was all metal, there would be issues with the wireless capabilities. From what I've been reading, the 2.4ghz speednova wireless dongle has practically the same latency as if you were wired, it's really impressive and the small difference is impossible to notice. The screen is a nice little touch. Unfortunately it's only black and white and I heard some people having burn-in issues when its set to hardware info so I would avoid that. I'll personally just set it to some custom animation and use the knob on the side for volume and mute control. The RGB effects are nice and bright, good customizability with it. All in all, they did a good job with it and would recommend it. Here are my issues with it. It's expensive compared to what you could get from competitors. You have the "gamer" aesthetic with the font on the keycaps. No option for hall-effect switches. If you don't care about wireless, you could get a board with a full metal build at this price point. I think that's mainly my issue with it as I'm happy with everything else with it. Hall-effect switches has a bunch of customizability to it and a lot of companies are coming out with their own keyboards with it after Wooting came out with theirs. Things like Dynamic Keystroke and Mod Tap are very convenient to have on more compact boards as function layer modifiers, convenient when gaming as well with Rapid Trigger. If you don't care about those things then these nx snow linear switches feel really good to type on. ... show more

  • Worth the price, kind of...
Pattern: Azoth Extreme Style: Snow Switch-Refined linear Color: Black
I love this keyboard. The price is steep, but if you can afford to throw away couple bucks on unnecessary things, and appreciate built quality, this will work well for you. The battery life is decent, once a week or so I'll charge back to 80%, but I'm sure it will last at least two weeks without a charge. Not as bad as other smack you in the face RGB all over the place keyboards. I found the display to be more useful than I initially thought it would be. I programmed the up and down arrows for volume and the center one to open YouTube which is nice. The keyboard itself is a joy to play games on. The switches feel and sound amazing. Take this review for example, I just want to type on the keyboard really, that's the main reason I'm posting this. It's just fun to use. If you're like me and want a really over the top high quality keyboard, but don't want to build a custom one, this will be the one for you. Bad decisions love company, get this keyboard :) ... show more
