Frequently asked questions

The ASUS L510 typically offers around 4 to 6 hours of battery life, depending on usage. Battery life can be influenced by factors like screen brightness, active applications, and power management settings.

The ASUS L510 comes with 4GB of RAM and it may not be upgradeable due to the memory being soldered onto the motherboard. The 128GB storage can often be upgraded as it's usually a standard M.2 SATA SSD. However, upgrading might affect your warranty, so it's recommended to check with ASUS support before proceeding.

The ASUS L510 comes with Windows 10 Home in S Mode, which is a more secure and lightweight version of Windows 10. It only allows apps from the Microsoft Store and requires Microsoft Edge for browsing. However, you can switch out of S Mode to the full version of Windows 10 for free if you prefer.

The ASUS L510 is not typically recommended for heavy gaming or graphic-intensive work. It's equipped with an Intel Celeron N4020 processor and 4GB RAM, which are suited for basic tasks like web browsing, word processing, and light photo editing.

  • Just what I need.
Style: NEW - Dual Core
This is a very basic computer, but is just what I need. I don't game on the unit. I watch video, go on social media, read the news. It's great for all of that. The price was excellent. Battery life is okay, lasts about 8 hours. It's lightweight. Audio is adequate. There is no downside to this little computer. ... show more

  • Great purchase 💕
Style: 2023 Model
The media could not be loaded. This product lives up to its name! All the features mentioned are true. Took a little long to start up and get everything up but it’s because it’s brand new and it had to process and upload all my old stuff from previous laptop onto this one. I used my old email and password and everything automatically came onto my new laptop. Great product, not too large and it’s light weight . Only thing the SD card does not fit the regular SD cards but hey guess we are phasing that out , I just used a SD card reader inserted it into the USB port and I was able to edit my videos as normal! Recommend! I’m writing this comment because I do read other ppls comment and it helps . Definitely worth purchasing 💕 I love my laptop ... show more

  • Horrible wi-fi, very slow.
Style: NEW - Dual Core
Other than the price, I simply cannot recommend this computer. Very slow. Very very slow. Unbelievably slow boot times. It seems it's main purpose in life is trying to maintain itself, poorly. Constantly waiting for updates. Also, Wi-Fi connectivity is horrible. At times using speed test by ookla, I cant get close to the speed I can get on all my other devices. But quite often, I either have zero connectivity to the internet, or extremely slow speeds. Getting Windows update to function with the limited Wi-Fi is almost impossible. There is no ethernet port on this pc, so unless you buy an adapter, you are reliant on the absolutely horrible wi-fi. The keyboard is okay. The screen is pretty good, but not very bright. Honestly, if they just strip it of the bloatware that comes from the manufacturer, and microsoft, it might be a mediocre PC at best. ... show more

  • Love the brand, hate the platform
Style: NEW - Dual Core
I've have an ASUS laptop for 3 years now, got my father the same model. This one is slightly different (3 years later), it loads in Windows S mode. It's a total pain in the butt to get it out of Windows S mode and then load all the software you like - Adobe Reader, Chrome, MS Office 365, etc etc. Windows S mode only allows you to use Edge and do download directly from the Microsoft Store, which is still a pain in the butt. If you're up for the challange of getting out of the W S Mode, the power of this device and the clarity is awesome! Gaming computer - no, it's not powerful enough for on line gaming. If you have a cd / dvd player, it will play computer games that way or movies from disc with clarity and good speed (gaming). ... show more

Went from unboxing, through setup/updates and was using it for its purpose within about an hour. I got it solely for online college courses and I figured I’d upgrade the ram later however it’s working really well so far I like it a lot.

  • Good hardware, bad bloatware
Style: 2023 Model
Overall, this is a pretty decent and simple laptop and serves the purpose for which we bought them. Despite the lower end system specs, the hardware does perform nicely. Not blazing fast but not slow, either. The screen quality is what you'd expect in this price range. The full keyboard layout is great and the weight and design of it is pretty solid. It comes in Windows S mode which only allows you to install apps from the microsoft store which makes it secure for less than tech savy users who just want to mess around on the web safely. You need to take it out of S mode and convert it to Windows 10 Home to install any apps not available in the store. That said, the bloatware is unforgivable. It comes preinstalled with McAfee. If you know anything about McAfee, they are essentially a virus posing as an anti-virus program. Once preinstalled, you're never getting rid of it. Not with the Windows Apps & Programs uninstaller or the "Removal Tool" from McAfee themselves. You run either, it just keeps coming back. If you try to delete the registry keys, you can't because they have running process that protects it from deletion. And if you are wise enough to figure out how to delete it from safe mode (like you would with a virus), it hijacks the Windows shutdown process to add it back in (like a virus). The only way to really get rid of it is to completely format and reinstall Windows. The problem there is you need ASUS's drivers afterward for the proprietary keyboard and touch pad. Which of course ASUS does not offer on the product support page. ASUS also has their own bloatware called MyASUS which, also, you will not be able to fully remove. If you can live with the preinstalled apps and McAfee, then this laptop may suit your purposes. If you're using it for work or business, you'll be able to get it functioning enough to use but be warned, it takes some extra work to get McAfee into a state where it's just there lurking while your real security software is in place. ... show more
