  • Love
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Edition: A40 TR + MixAmp M80
This are the best gaming headset I've ever used. This is my second pair only for selling last pair and regretted it. I use them for Xbox x, and love the all controls are right at your fingertips. The breathability for your ears are great while still canceling enough noise not to be a distraction. So for moms and dads that want good quality noise canceling and still hear your baby wake up from a nap, these are the ones :) ... show more

  • Loving this headset!
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Edition: A40 TR + MixAmp M80
I have been wanting to try Astro for a long time. I gotta say I had my doubts but decided to take the plunge. At the time of this review the headset is on sale for $169.99 down from $199.99. I figured if I was not 100% happy I would at least have the option to return this. I am happy to report that this headset is definitely for me! Construction: This thing is built very well. Super solid construction and does not feel flimsy or anything. It has a bit more weight to it than my previous headset which worried me at first but I quickly got used it. I don't think the weight of this will be an issue but I it might bother some so decided to mention it. I love how the ear muffs feel and how it fits my head. It definitely has a premium quality feel to it. I can't say enough about the comfort. Sound: These are much better sounding than my old Turtle Beach XO set, not extremely better but definitely a noticeable step up. The MixAmp 80 which plugs directly into the controller that comes with these is much better than any adapter that I have used from other headsets for the xbox controller. It has a nice little LED light screen that shows you how high the volume is and what the balance is between chat and game. A nice smooth dial to adjust volume and press to mute. I honestly don't think you're going to get better sound unless you go with a setup that has an external amp like the MixAmp Pro TR with optical out. You can only do so much with a setup without that. Keep in mind I have not typically spent this much on a headset before so this headset as-is was bound to be an upgrade. This headset was plug and play. Just plug the adapter into your controller and then the other end to the headset and done. So that was nice. Not a bunch of wires to manage other than that. So why the 4 stars instead of 5. I can't ignore that fact that this goes for $199.99 normal price which is only $50 less than a full setup with the A40 TR Headset + Mixamp Pro TR. I hated to spend $250 on that version so when I saw this version (A40 TR Wired Headset + MixAmp M80) for $169.99 I had to give it a go and I don't regret it at all. $169.99 for this one was a good deal and compromise for me. The best part is I can always buy the Mixamp Pro TR separately down the line since it works with this when I feel like going a step further. For now these work great! Update 06-18-19: So I decided to take the plunge and pickup the MixAmp Pro TR by itself for $129.99 to add to this. I could not get my A40 headset mic to work properly with the MixAmp Pro TR so had to return. As it turns out The M80 MixAmp is just way more convenient to use, plugs directly into your controller with one wire, mute button built in with 3 EQ settings, chat/game balance buttons, and decent volume that is very close to what this MixAmp Pro TR was putting out. $199.99 is still pricey for this item but it is a great headset. Personally, I would recommend this over the MixAmp Pro TR setup. MixAmp Pro TR was just too much of a hassle for me with wires all over the place. ... show more

  • It came broken?
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Edition: A40 TR + MixAmp M80
The headset works perfectly with the regular audio jack cable, however, the Mixamp M80 only works on one side. The headset was brand new but the M80 seems to be broken. If I wiggle the cable around there are brief moments where sound with be heard on both sides, but mostly only one one side is played. ... show more

  • High quality design
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Edition: A40 TR + MixAmp M80
The headset is very lightweight and sounds pretty decent. There isn’t much bass but it has decent mid to high range that levels out for most game modes. There are (2) major downsides to this headset; 1) There doesn’t appear to be any sort of “talkback” or ability to hear yourself in the headset. So you can’t tell how you sound and end up talking very loudly to comprehend that you’re being heard on the other end. 2) The Controller attachment for sound control has the cord permanently connected to it. This means if the cord fails you can’t replace it separately and you can’t disconnect the cord from the remote without disconnecting the entire attachment. All in all it’s a decent headset but I would recommend trying to buy it on sale and not at full price. (If you’re able to) ... show more

  • Good, but Could be better
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Edition: A40 TR + MixAmp M80
Likes: sound quality, EQ, volume control, simplicity Dislikes: Bulk - it plugs right into your controller like that old stereo adapter, but it might be bigger; volume control is on the amp, not the headset or the cord; mic design - it just rotates 360 degrees. My Opinion These are a quality pair together; however there is to much dependence on the amp, which costs 80 bucks to replace unless you catch a sale. The sounds is to notch. I can compare it to some GSP 600's, which this puts to shame sadly. I honestly wanted to like the sennheiser, but I just couldn't. The sound here is on point, the GSP mic might sound a little better, but doesn't make up for the difference in overall sound quality. You just hear more through these - many more details, which is key for gaming. The GSPs feel like they're built better. The mic also only moves like 135 degrees and raising the arm mutes the mic and there is volume control on the earphone. This could use that, it honestly feels like a joke and the mic and volume control situation is the only real detraction from an awesome set. The controls are on the excellent, but bulky adapter. Honestly, I'd prefer the mic boom and volume control on the sennheiser and this as an external attachment that I can put on my sofa arm or something. I did also order the other standalone Xbox amp for science. In terms of comfort these sit in the middle of the white sennheiser gaming one or whatever headphones those are, which are very comfortable and the GSP 600s which are not very comfortable. I bought these on sale, and I'm not sure they're worth 200, which is the regular price. Those Gaming Ones from sennheiser are top notch for the price and after a few years, they still work same as right out of the box, EXCEPT the console cord failed and I had to switch to the PC cords and buy the adapter. Sennheiser recently started selling the replacement cord for those so I'll order that. I'm keeping these thought. The sound is great. ... show more
