I've tried multiple proteins from both big manufacturers (like ON) and small shops, and the Ascent whey protein (vanilla flavor) is my favorite by far. I haven't had any issues with mixing it (using a shaker bottle), the taste is good (none of that artificial sweetener taste), it has great texture (not grainy), and overall - just really happy with this protein. Granted, it is a few dollars more expensive per pound than some other brands, but to me, if I'm putting it in my body everyday, then for the quality and taste, it's definitely worth it. A solid isolate protein powder. I avoid sugar and all those flavors with artificial sweeteners....for me defeats the purpose of the work-out to put that in my system. This is unflavored...and true to the description. It imparts no taste I can discern, but I do mix it with after workout smoothies using fresh fruit. In my blender it mixes perfectly, but have not tried to just stir it into a drink. My only complaint is that the resealable bag doesn't reseal very well. I store it in a cool dark cabinet, but still...work on that! 4.5 stars for the bag. ... show more

First of all, yum! I bought the peanut butter chocolate flavor and it tastes great. I don’t know a ton about protein powders, but I know I lost a bunch of weight when drinking these in the morning for breakfast. This keeps me full for a longer period of time and there are no weird side effects. My roommate who is familiarized with protein powders checked out the ingredients and she noted that this has some of the best ingredients she’s seen in a protein powder. I've gone through a few different protein powders and the Ascent Mocha Cold Brew is my favorite. I mix it with milk and I really like the flavor! I also like that it's a protein isolate, as I find that to be easier on my digestion. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that it has Stevia as a sweetener. I'd prefer plain old sugar. The Stevia has a bit of an after taste, but the Mocha Cold Brew flavor mostly over comes it. This is some good stuff. I have it everyday. After my workout, even if I don't work out that day, I have a serving to keep my protein intake up. You can , but don't need to add things for flavor. I put a full included measure spoon in, then either milk, orange juice or combo of orange juice with a tad of organic pure cranberry juice for a zesty edge. Most the time I just use milk. I might put emulsified fruilt enhancer in there sometimes, not often. Sometimes a teaspoon of chocolate light ovaltine. It shakes well in a glass jar with a lid, no lumps.
