  • The clamp holds well
This has been a good product. I started using it with 5X8 card stock for taking notes, checklists and so on. I superglued two small earth magnets on it so it holds my mechanical pencil firmly in place. Now I am using it to hold my iPad Mini and it works like a dream. The cover fits nicely under the clasp and the iPad folds over. Stays in place and works well. It has made flying much easier. ... show more

  • Doesn't interfere with the control stick in an Evektor Sportstar
Having a kneeboard seems to help me remember ATC information. I tried a tri-fold but it was too wide, and interfered with the stick movement in an Evektor Sportstar. This is just narrow enough to give the stick free movement. I don't care there isn't room for a pencil, as I carry one in my pocket. The Velcro seems to stick well enough to keep it secure on my leg. ... show more

  • Just the basics (Great Seller)
This is just what a new pilot needs. No unnecessary frills. All the basic reminders for VFR plus the clip is very strong yet easy to operate with or without gloves. The velcro strip could be wider for a little better stability and less point pressure on the back of the leg. The velcro itself is a bit sparse and could have more to catch on. It is great for my leg, but a very thin pilot would be needing some extra velcro as the 2 pieces would pass each other and not be useful. For the money and for someone my size (6'02" 225lbs) it is great. Arrived way before it was due! Awesome. ... show more

  • Very helpful but has Sharp edges
I am a student pilot so a knee board is necessary for me when taking CFI, ASOS and comms notes, but does get in the way a bit since the plane has a center stick for flight controls. Not a big deal, but the problem is that this board has sharp edges which caused a cut on my hand during a recent flight lesson. ... show more

  • One of the best kneeboards
I have used alot of kneeboards as a commercial pilot, including ASA trifold kneeboard, ASA folding lapboard (I liked this in my instrument student training), Flyboys pilot kneeboard, and this basic ASA kneeboard. In my current plane, I use two kneeboards. I use the Flyboys kneeboard for approach books. The ASA basic kneeboard has my important things - notes page for inflight weather, clearances and TOLD, and an airport diagram. The ASA kneeboard is a basic kneeboard but I love it! For my day to day flights, I can't use the basic kneeboard alone because I can't strap approach books to it. The kneeboard is my basic go-to kneeboard for VFR flights. For IFR flying, you need another kneeboard for the approach book (unless you have a yoke clip or other method) Cons - My complaints on this kneeboard are the printed sections are rubbing off already. I have used this kneeboard daily for 2 months. I would expect the printed information to not rub off so easily. - I would like a thicker elastic band with more velcro. I can't really get the kneeboard as tight as I want so it doesn't move around. ... show more

  • Handy, but wish it had a place for a pen
It feels a little rough on the edges, but I have not cut myself on it after several uses. Fits nicely in my leg and holds a small notepad in place. Only downside is there's nowhere to clip on a pen (aside from the strap itself). The reference on the board itself is handy, but not terribly useful as you'll have a notepad over it during normal use. ... show more

  • Good for taking notes while driving and no one needs to worry about being overly neat when scribbling a phone number on a tablet
I keep this strapped to my leg while driving and use it to write on a tablet for something I hear on the radio. You do not need to look at it . Anyone can write just by writing on the tablet. So theres no need to take your eyes off of the road. Pilots use them to carry maps they have cut off in strips and fan folded them when in a small aircraft. The kind I am used to is plastic and has a curve to fit over your thigh. They are still strapped on though. We used these in the military but for taking notes while driving they are a good idea. Like jotting down a phone number or web site and not having to fumble looking for a piece of paper and a pen. The board holds a pen as well ... show more
