Good weight and size. I am doing my best to eliminate any weedy areas in my back yard. I would much rather enjoy it than to spend my time there, pulling weeds. I am working on a plan to have a 'Jungle' space back there, with paths and patio rooms - rather than the ever-present weeds. This rug filled a large area. I put down cardboard, after clearing the weeds from the area. I placed this directly on top of it. This specific area is relatively flat. I didn't want to put much effort in, such as building a deck or pouring concrete. It certainly suited my need. The nice large size was much welcomed. I plan to plant around it. After some digging, I used a hose to clean it and there was not standing water. Not even with the cardboard underneath. This was my main concern using this as a quick fix, so I was pleasantly surprised there. The negatives were mostly a result of my own lack of paying attention to the details . . . the pile was not quite as thick as I had hoped. Be aware that the color is a solid green and doesn't have contrast to it. It also has a slightly shiny sheen to it. This stuff is pretty bad quality. It's not like the other turf products I have, which are all much more realistic. This stuff is thin, and doesn't stand up like grass. It also looks nothing like grass, but has that fake plastic look to it. Also, it doesn't lay flat. Becuase it's so thin and shipped in a roll, one side of this stuff is, I think, permanently curled. This is simple, cheap fake "lawn", aka: the stuff you probably played and skinned your knees on in middle school. It isn't even attempting to be grass in any way save the color. The mat is thin and a bit frayed around the edges (see pictures), but is intensely and uniformly green. There's not any pile to speak of, but on the other hand the open weave backing means it will drain water well. It is large. It is reasonably non-odorous after a few minutes airing out. It is quite light and will need staking down in any sort of a breeze. And despite not being close to actual grass, it is definitely more comfortable on the feet than cold concrete and more attractive. And it looks rather cheap. This is for the 7x12 ft artificial grass mat. We took this straight into the yard when it came in. It arrived rolled rather than folded, so it was a very quick, easy, and almost wrinkle free experience. (innermost part of the roll had to be pinned and flattened out a bit. Texture: This is not for bare feet. It's a short-leaf style of the material used to make artificial Christmas trees and wreaths. It is a short and tidy pile more for nice landscaping and shoes (or at least socks). If you are looking for that "grass and soil beneath your feet" feel, you might not care for this much. It's VERY important to note that ground staples or stakes are not included. This is very lightweight, so a storm-grade wind will pick it up. It's not a deal breaker, though! Just set a stake or weight at each wind-facing corner. (If you do a lot of at-home assembly, you might have a lot of those complimentary L-shaped tools. We found hammering those in to be very effective for staking the mat to the ground.) ... show more
