If you tighten the knob it tightens the other joints. So tighten the knob and tighten down both 1/4" end washer-nuts. Loosen the knob and attach the end that is smooth to the base that attaches to the wall The end that has marks works best on a camera.The washer-nut ends can be screwed into place. When they reach the end an extra tug will loosen the big washer-nut and it can be snugged to base mount or camera. Then you adjust camera and tighten the big knob. Then everything will be LOCKED into place. If you try to work with the knob tight you will have to twist the camera or twist the rod, as some people have done, and this is really making extra work. In other words, when the washer-nut is snugged down on the ends, twisting it twists the bolt as well. This is what lets you screw it into the camera or mount base easily. ... show more

- This arm will not support a Canon EOS Rebel T6 camera extended. Note the screw, just below camera strap, needed to keep the camera from falling L/R. - Also, no simple way to remove camera without spinning the full camera multiple times. - Do your functional research before buying. - It may work better with a very lightweight devise. ... show more

I've tightened these things as much as I can, and while the arm will stay in the same shape the whole thing still swivels around the base freely.

Works OK, but generally disappointing. I had to use cable ties to stabilize it. It's a ghetto solution, and it works 2 years of zooming later.

The arm itself works ok, but will not hold heavy objects. Mine barely holds up a 7” tablet, any heavier it would fall.

I don't think it could hold a SLR, but great for anything less, and much more professional looking than tape and string.

don't use the screws and hangers that come with this product very deceiving on its size. but I made it work with my add equipment.
