Suitable for shallow drywall depths of 1/2-Inch or 5/8-Inch, box depth is 1.25-Inch. Includes (1) TVL508 box and (1) UL Listed Decorator style receptacle. Save time with retrofit or new construction with convenient low-profile recessed 8" x 5" TV bridge kit. White trim is paintable, allowing for a complete finish. This product worked seamlessly and was exactly what I needed (after a long search!) I just hung a 60" TV on a basement wall that had only 2" deep studs. It was easy enough to put together that I didn't need the instructions. It has a large enough bezel that you don't need to be perfect with your sheet rock cuts. Despite being a shallow box, the outlet side box had plenty of room, which made things easy. No struggling with tucking away wires. It also comes with the grommets you'll need to pull 14-2 through it. The cavity in front of the outlet was easy for fitting my TV and soundbar plugs, as well as an HDMI and speaker cable. This unit is large, so if you have a small TV it may not be 'coverable' since this box must go between studs and is pretty large. Depending on the mounting bracket you have for your TV, this could be a problem. ... show more

Recently bought one of those "interactive on-wall" calendar/schedulers, and wanted to wall mount out it but hide the power cables. Looked at doing wire molding but thought it would be a bit too "obvious", so got an electrician to come by and look into this. We were already getting some work done in our basement so this was just a "simple" add on. (simple = cost more but still better than having me try to do it!) Electrician let us know that the location we chose didn't leave much room between the dry wall and the other side of the wall. Less than 2 inches, this was due to me choosing our staircase wall to do this :) So I did some research and came upon this outlet!     • It works but lacks the full kit for installation

Excellent for shallow walls, but lacking the rest of the kit to do a complete installation. This upper end is just right if you have a wall with very little free space behind the wallboard. We have a masonry-built home, and the drywall is mounted on furring strips that are relatively thin and give only a couple inches of free space. The box did fit and was easy to install. It's a bit wide, so that could be a problem if the TV set isn't configured to fully cover it when it's mounted. But if you have a flat screen of at least 40 inches, this probably won't be a problem. I'd have given it five stars except for the fact that it lacks the wire and bottom half of a complete kit. They do sell an extension cord and wall mount that the cord can go through, but that doesn't meet the electrical codes in most places. In the end, I had to purchase another kit, a much more expensive one, just to get a bottom part that would fit and that had a Romex wire and male outlet that is within code. If you do want to use this box, I suggest that you avoid any wire or bottom part that isn't up to code. If you run an extension cord through the wall, that's a violation and could void your fire insurance. ... show more

UPDATE - The seller sent me a replacement the next day and it is perfect! It fit just right in my wall (1/2” drywall on 1” furring strips over concrete block). Installation was a breeze and it looks great! I highly recommend this product if you need to mount a tv on an external or shared wall. The product arrived and would be exactly what I need. However, when it arrived and I opened the outer shipping box, I could see that the tape used to seal the product packaging had been peeled back and then re-stuck to the box. Clearly it had been opened. When I opened the box, I saw that the front trim piece was missing. This product is useless without that piece. It’s literally what holds it against the front of the drywall. I will update my review once I receive a complete product. ... show more

This box worked perfectly for my scenario. Low profile TV mount for my 65" TV with maybe an inch of space behind the TV. Concrete block is just inches behind the drywall. Box was a perfect fit and seated snug into the hole that was cut out. There was no room for an outward facing standard electrical outlet. This box has the outlet recessed and turned parallel with the wall allowing the power cable to be plugged in without protruding. I purchased a Surge Protected Outlet for an extra $20 to replace the packaged outlet. It should provide added surge protection to the TV. Install was very easy. The box is wide as others are saying but, as long as you install it in the right place any TV size will cover it. I used the extra space to store the excess length of an extension cord. Extension cord was used as a solution for the huge cable box power adapter. It would have covered both electrical outlets if plugged in directly. ... show more

Really pretty expensive, hard plastic, a bit clunky putting it together. It’s really just ok. You could accomplish the same thing with a double gang outlet with an internal separator. The value of this box is the angled outlet that is code compliant.
