  • The Lightest of the Non-Bluetooth Keyboard Cases
Style: US English Color: Black
I used to have the Logitech and Apple Magic Keyboard cases, both of which I returned. They were just making my iPad “laptop heavy”. If I wanted to carry that kind of weight, I’d rather just bring my Macbook. This is simply the lightest of the bunch. Yes, it does not have the trackpad but I don’t miss it. The Apple pencil and the touch screen replaces that. If I absolutely need a trackpad I can use an Apple Magic Trackpad. It’s an optional thing and I don’t have to have it 100% of the time without the added weight. The absence of the trackpad also means you get a way smaller foot print on your airplane table or desk. I guess when choosing among the non-bluetooth keyboard cases, it’s a matter of wanting the trackpad 100% of the time and accepting the fact that it will make your ipad setup heavier. For me, it was a clear choice, I wanted the convenience of having the keyboard but keeping the ipad ultra portable. It was an easy choice for me. The only reason this isn’t a five star review is that I do wish it had a row of function keys. Looking at how the keys are a bit spaced out, I can see them being able to squeeze an extra row on the top if they space the keys closer together. Probably would need to sacrifice the keyboard’s water resistance though and make it a regular keyboard. Still a joy to use as is though and typed this review with it. ... show more

  • The keyboard should have been detachable.
Style: Portuguese Color: Black
My only complaint is that the keyboard is not detachable. I had another tablet with the original case with keyboard that was detachable, it was very pleasing to use without having to fold the keyboard cover behind the tablet risking breaking the wires inside the case.

  • Yay, it works! Which tells you something about its competitors.

Updated after a few days' use. I probably wouldn’t like this keyboard quite so much if I hadn’t spent the last few weeks struggling with a Chesona keyboard, which would not hold a Bluetooth connection to save its life (the company even sent a replacement, which didn’t work any better). I am not sure what the technology is on this keyboard, but it works without Bluetooth, so hallelujah to that. I also like that it’s very lightweight, compared to the Chesona keyboard. That is important to me, but the downside is that I can understand what the other reviewers were complaining about in terms of it not providing much protection. The magnets that hold it to the iPad are not commandingly strong, so if I were to drop it, the keyboard would probably separate from the iPad before or after impact. On the other hand, it will provide protection from scratches and whatnot while it’s in a bag, which is a more likely threat. I bought this rather than the higher priced magic keyboard because I knew I would want to disable the touch pad anyway. Why pay extra for something I don't need or want? That about sums up the good news. The fact that it works is sort of a low bar, so I’m deducting a star for the ridiculous price, and a few other minor annoyances. Typing on it is more than a little awkward. Other reviewers complained that the keyboard is small, but — hello — it’s the same size as the iPad, so it is what it is. But, every few seconds the heel of my left hand would hit the emoji button at the bottom left corner. Fortunately for my sanity, I quickly figured out how to disable that button (in keyboard settings). There are obviously keyboard commands available (there are control, option, and cmd keys) but zero instructions on what they might be. Typical Apple. After a bit of Googling I found out if you hold the "cmd" button down for a few seconds you get a list of at least some of the commands. Who knew? (Maybe Mac users knew this.) I still don't know what the "control" and "option" keys do, though. And, the arrow buttons don't do what it seems like they should do. The main thing I'd want them to do is move around in, e.g., a book on the Kindle app. The left, up, and down buttons don't seem to do anything, while the right button takes you not to the next page, but the next chapter. Not particularly useful. There may be a way of changing what they do, but I haven't figured that out yet either. ... show more

  • Very Decent
Style: US English Color: Black
Especially for the price, this is great. I can’t speak to the long-term durability, yet, but it seems sturdy enough. I use it to write short stories on my iPad Pro. It works well on a table, maybe a bit less so on my lap, but that probably shouldn’t be a requirement. The action is decent, with no or very minimal mistypes, or unresponsiveness. Let’s say “it just works,” fancy or not, so a good budget choice after seeing what Apple charges for something similar. ... show more

  • So far so good
Style: US English Color: Black
I've had this for a few weeks and it seems to be as advertised. It is DEFINITELY easier to type on this than to try to use the virtual keyboard or fiddle with trying to get your handwriting properly read. Some say the keyboard is cramped, but for it to fit with the iPad form factor, there really is no other way. The keys are quiet and responsive and there is ZERO Bluetooth lag. The only gripe is that the cover seems to attract dirt on the outside, but a damp cloth seems to clean it up nice. ... show more
