This was a birthday gift for our 3 year old granddaughter. We bought a high chair to go with the gift and after opening these items, our granddaughter pulled the baby doll in the high chair everywhere she went. The doll sat with us for dinner next to our granddaughter.

i ordered this 'aori 18 inch lifelike newborn baby doll' and overall, it's 5 STARS. my daughters have SEVERAL reborn dolls and a few are from 'aori'. this doll matches the nice quality that we've come to expect from 'aori'. PROS: - EXPRESSION. this doll has an ADORABLE and very cute expression. it has beautiful bright BLUE eyes and the perfect pouty lips. - QUALITY. this doll is very well made and the craftsmanship shows. limbs and head are proportionate, and it's quite soft and would be perfect for smaller children as well (as opposed to those thick, hard plastic baby dolls). the arms and legs came wrapped in plastic for added protection. - OUTFIT. the outfit is WONDERFUL and fits the doll well. my daughters said it's a character from the 'hello kitty' world, even though it does NOT state this. it also came fitted with a diaper as well. - VALUE. having actually bought MANY dolls over the years, the quality of this doll makes it a wonderful value at the price point. upon ordering, this doll was around $40. - SIZE. this doll is a bit smaller than i expected, but it's still a wonderful size and definitely more of a 'newborn' than say, an older doll. it would be perfect for smaller/younger children. CONS: - the only 'con', and i'm not really sure you can call it that, is that i assumed this doll was maybe a male, based on the pictures. the doll came with a pink bottle and pacifier, which surprised me a bit. my daughters also said this doll was a boy, but i supposed it really could be either gender. - HAIR. again, not exactly a 'con' but worth noting. this doll came with NO hair. not even drawn on, as some dolls have. it's completely bald. I have always been pleased with the dolls I've purchased from Aori, and this one is no different. Usually I get their reborn type dolls, but this is a baby doll. She is smaller than the reborn style dolls and feels like a better size for children. She has no smell to her and comes wearing a hat and footed pj as well as a diaper. In the box is also a bottle, pacifier, and birth certificate. She's secured to the box using ribbons and her arms and legs, which are 3/4 vinyl, are protected in plastic. I like the style pacifier that she comes with because I feel it is safer for children than the magnetic kind--I always worry about accidental magnet ingestion by littles. The doll is slightly weighted with some pellets in her body--feels like she has a bean bag bottom. However, I don't think she is heavy at all. My 7 year old LOVES her so much. I must say she also has a beautiful face and gorgeous eyelashes. I find that Aori dolls have tastefully done eyelashes and faces. So cute! Oh and the vinyl is soft and smooth and her arms and legs easily move at the shoulder and hip joints. She is PERFECT and we love her. ... show more

I ordered this Aori 18 inch lifelike newborn doll as a gift for a 2 year old who is starting to show interest in other babies. I am very pleased with the quality of construction and shape of the hands and feet, which are formed in a realistic fashion. The arms and legs move easily and the body is a soft fabric. The face is very cute and the blue of the eyes is striking and the eyelashes are notable, but the eyes do NOT close. I was disappointed the doll had no hair, not even drawn on hair, so that reduces the lifelike quality slightly. The outfit with the hat is very nice and the doll comes with a diaper, a nice extra touch. By all appearances this is a male doll and yet the bottle and pacifier are pink, so that was a bit disappointing. I have seen dolls that look slightly more realistic in terms of being lifelike, but at this price point I am extremely happy with the quality of the doll and with what's included in the package. I can definitely recommend this product and think it will be very suitable for a child. ... show more

This baby is so lovely. She's not too heavy. She's not as heavy as a newborn, but she has enough weight to feel real. The coloring on her face (cheeks, eyes, and lips) is so pretty. Even the nails look real (little whites of nails showing). Her skin feels good. She came with a little diaper on her. The outfit is adorable. (We did put a little double sided tape on the underside to keep that hat from repeatedly coming off.) I love that she came with a little pacifier. My 3 year old granddaughter is holding her now, and we are going to pick out some more newborn clothes for her. We put some water in the included bottle for effect; it's sealed and the nipple is closed, so it won't come out. I actually like that here hair is just faintly painted on. When hair is put on dolls, it ends up looking pretty ratty after the doll has been carried around a lot and played with. Also, the little hats look adorable on this doll. ... now to pick out a name. ... show more
