This is basically a rotating chainsaw blade. It works really well on dry wood without any nails in it. You still need to sharpen the cutters fairly frequently. This might be because of the very high RPM. I tried it on tree roots and got mixed results. Most roots have dirt and small stones embedded in them. Because of that, you will need to sharpen the cutters more often. Even so, it was better than shoving my regular chainsaw into the ground to cut big roots. I have some big tree roots that are raised which I wanted to level so they don't become tripping hazards. I've tried using some grinders, my reciprocating saw, and a few other hand tools but it was just too time consuming and lots of effort. As I wanted to cut horizontally and not vertically, it didn't seem right to use my chainsaw, and besides, cutting vertically into the soil will quickly dull the blades. So when I saw this carving disc that I could use with my angle grinder to naturally cut horizontally, I had to get it. If it cuts like a chainsaw should, the time and effort saved will make this worthwhile even if it becomes a throwaway after use. Once the weather cools down here in Texas, I'll clear some soil and grass around the tree roots and get to work doing some carving. ... show more

The chain does its job but there was little documentation on it. The chain fell off as soon as I got ready to install it. I originally put the chain on backwards since I couldn't find a way direction it was supposed to go on. I went back to the amazon listing and it showed the correct direction. Worked well for a small stump that the stump grinder couldn't reach due to a fence. ... show more

I threw this beastie on my 4.5 grinder and went to town on some stripped green pine logs and it was chewing through that wood like it wasn't even there. As others have stated, the chain dulls fairly quickly so be prepared to sharpen it often. Chainsaws need regular sharpening too, but there is a lot more chain to do the work so it makes sense that this would require more frequent sharpening. That being said, it's an easy task to sharpen this and get it back to working shape. I don't know that I would use this to trim roots or dense brush due the risk of kickback - there are better and safer tools for those jobs - but it is a cool tool to add to the arsenal. ... show more

This made for the perfect tool to shape logs for garden beds. While it won’t get used often, I can think of a bunch of times in the past where this would have been the perfect tool for the job. Aokliy High-Speed Steel Angle Grinder Carving Saw Blade. I have always wanted one of these angle grinder chainsaw blades. We live in an area where there are a lot of wood resources and I’ve always wanted to do more wood carving. This blade fit on my old DrillMaster 4 1/2 inch angle grinder from Harbor Freight. I was pretty excited to try it out, so I went outside and found a large scrap log and just slowly tried it. It was very easy to cut a shallow swath in the side of the log, so I tried using the edge more and it cut right in. It’s very sharp and cuts very quickly. I think there is a bit of a learning curve to be able to hold it steady while cutting. Of course I don’t have much in the way of carving skills, but I think with a little practice I’ll be able to produce some cool sculptures. . I can imagine a ton of other uses for this as well. I love this tool, and I love that it has two extra replacement chains. Highly recommend this one. ... show more
