I’m still learning when it comes to fly fishing so I can’t really speak to the quality of most of these flies, but I bought this kit as a starting point. it seems good especially for the money. I caught a few minnows using the top right fly in the corner shown in the product picture. Wish the box was a little bigger/ spaced out, I find it a little difficult to grab or even see some of the flies in there, but that’s the only complaint I’ve got. ... show more

    • Durability leaves a lot to be desired
These flys do indeed get bites, but, it is sort of a tossup if one will last through 10 fish, or fall apart as you're removing it from the packaging. Some last a while, some don't. I don't think ones actually been bit more than 10 times without falling apart. But, if you're new to fishing, they get bites, and if one breaks, there's at least one duplicate per style of fly. Not a bad addition to a newbie's tackle. Just not so durable. The hooks themselves though are nice and sharp. Its the wrapping that falls apart. If it happens to you, strip the wrapping and bead from the hook and salvage the hook. They really are nice hooks. ... show more

the flys are much better than I expected. I just paid 40.00 with tax for 10 flys at the fly shop. For 14.00 with a case is a great value even if they only last a few bites.
