  • A must have for kids.
Style: PS100D
These are so fun! I think I play with them more than my daughter lol It has sooo many things to look at. There is hours of microscope fun in these. All kids should have these and microscopes in their rooms! Would be perfect for homeschooling or teachers looking to supplement their teachings, or just a curious kid. Give them something awesome to look at and do. They get to see things from a whole new perspective. It always has my daughter asking tons of questions when she brings hem out. He always amazed at every slide. Shes 11. They are all numbered and labeled so you can put them back in the right slots and know what you are looking at. My daughter spilled her case in he floor and nothing broke and it only took up a few minutes to get it all organized again. The case is really nice and sturdy, very nice quality all the way around! I love the variety of everything in this kit. Hoping to get another set of slides soon! ... show more

  • Perfect for our future scientist!
Style: PS100D
I ordered slide set D after much deliberation. I purchased the AmScope 40X-2000X Advanced Home School Student Biological Compound Microscope with Mechanical Stage, Solid Metal Framework and Optical Glass Lenses in January. The 100 slide set D had great variety and seemed a perfect fit for our six year old scientist who is interested in insects and a variety of animals and birds. The slides arrived in perfect condition and as everyone else says the wooden box they come in is very sturdy and designed well to hold the slides securely. Others commented on a little dust or film. Ours were quite clear and that would not bother me anyway. The price is phenomenal. The slides and the microscope are so superior to the toys sold in our local store that I would not hesitate to purchase another for my other granddaughter. The "real thing" is somewhat more expensive, but will provide a lifetime of knowledge. ... show more

  • I was impressed!
Style: PS100A
I was very impressed with the product when it arrived. The wood box was not made of the finest hardwoods, but was nice. Although well packed, the slides shifted in shipping due to the softer balsa wood used to separate the 2 rows of 50 slides. This shifting made removing many of the slides difficult because they wedged themselves in very tightly. With a little patience, I gentle removed the shifted slides and the center rail popped back into the center allowing the all of the slides to be properly set. The slides are all labeled and comes with a sheet of paper with all of the slides in the kit and their position in the case. If I might make a suggestion to the manufacture....If you also labeled the slides by kit letter and position number, it would make it easier to find the slides. For example. I purchase set A so the label might also indicate A23 which would mean Set A slide 23. This would make it a lot easier to find and replace the slides. The slides themselves seem high quality and quite beautiful. There is a wide variety of subjects. You will not be disappointed in purchasing this product. I do plan on purchasing additional kits in the future. ... show more

  • Well prepared for my use and very happy with them.
Style: PS100B
I have seen a decent amount of negative reviews and i don't think they are warranted. I received 99 of the 100 slides. One missing, but no big deal for me, i am using these with a 6 yr old and 3 yr old and a recent microscope purchase. I am using a mid priced stereo microscope in the 150 dollar range. With this I have had no problem viewing any of these slides. Not being a biology major, i can say that i believe the slides are all of good quality and well prepared for my level of use. I think they would be of use to more advanced persons also. I have looked at about 30 of the slides. In all cases there is one of the sample items located at or very near the center of the coverslip. You may need to search a little for the smaller items. In short, the paramecium slide has 4 paramecium set in the center, each stained differently, red, green, and a brown making it easier to see different parts. The insect, daphnia, hydra, and penicillin were all easy for me to examine under various magnification and clearly visible. Earthworm is a section cut through the middle of a worm, stained and internal parts are identifiable. The storage box is wood, unfinished, well enough made for storage. Minimal padding but fine, as long as you don't drop it. ... show more

  • Slides are great, some of the details aren't
Style: PS100E
The slide set itself is a good set. The samples cover a wide range of specimens, and can easily be used to compliment just about any discipline of biology. The quality is fairly good; the staining is well done to allow easy viewing. I did notice a few minor chips in the glass, but so far nothing that has been in the way of viewing the samples. However, there are a few weaknesses that I think should be addressed. First of all, the case could use some improvement. The case I received is wooden, and does look lovely. One half of the case holds the slides neatly, and it's easy to get the slides in and out of their proper spot. The other half of the case is cut too wide for the slides and they are constantly slipping loose, getting jumbled up with their neighbors. Whenever I need a slide on that side of the box, it's a bit of a mess. Nothing that renders the slides useless, but why couldn't they have made both sides of the case fit properly? The other problem I had was with the slide list. A sheet of paper accompanies the slides telling you what is on each. For many of the samples (botany especially), only the scientific name is listed. Now, I happen to not be up on all my plant scientific names, so this is a little bit of a chore to look these things up online. This wouldn't be too bad, after all, this set is undoubtedly meant to be used by higher level science classes, but some of the names are spelled incorrectly. So not only do I not know what the sample is, looking it up becomes much more challenging. I've only found this spelling issue on a few slides, but it seems like an embarrassing error. For my gripes though, I do really like this set. I'll be able to get a lot of use out of it for homeschool, and it's even entertaining the adults. ... show more
