My wife is short and it's difficult for her to hop into the Jeep, so I came upon these side steps as a solution for her. I wouldn't recommend them to take out and get beat up on boulders. They are heavy duty metal, not plastic and would take a good deal of beating but they're too expensive to destroy on a boulder. If you're going out to do that then put back on the factory rock rail. The steps are all metal except for the plastic end covers. The installation is long and complex. One thing that wasn't clear to me is where to splice into the factory wiring. You do that on the passenger side. The only thing I wasn't happy about is you run two wires up through the drain hole in the floorboard of the Jeep on the passenger side. I may get some wire and reroute those later, but for now they're installed as instructed. The wire for the led lights were too short on the driver side and I had to extend them. I found the crimp connectors were difficult to get to connect for me, the wires kept pulling out so I redid those connectors. The steps look great and operate smoothly. You can hear them and feel them extend and retract. I get lots of complements on them. They are expensive but high quality. They look as good and operate as good as the factory steps on our Expedition. A very nice upgrade to the Gladiator. ... show more

Style: PowerStep Smart Series
This is my third amp research power running board steps. I installed them all myself. Took me about 4 hours to put them on. This is a very easy install. Everything bolts on and no drilling on our 2024 Gladiator. A couple of tips. Mount your motors to the brackets first, and put the boards on last. The smart series has 4 motors. Once the brackets are mounted with the motors installed. Just leave them alone and go to wiring harness. Incredibly easy to wire. The Gladiator has a rubber grommet by the brake booster. I took a pointed screwdriver and poked whole through it. Inside vehicle I had to cut about a 1 inch square out of a plastic piece on left side of fenderwell. Poke your pointy screwdriver through it from engine compartment and mark around the whole. Then pull out the insulation crammed in there. Wiring was straightforward and easy following instructions. Plugged right in to factory plugs. I put a dual adapter on my obdi port so I always have an open obdi port for diagnostics. The way I wired hot and ground, I had to add about a foot of 12 gauge black wire to what came with harness. Otherwise harness was good routed per instructions. Hooked red hot up last, opened doors and and let brackets self adjust down. They self align. You cannot manually align like instructions say. Now mount boards and center where you want them. Tighten up everything. Shut doors and my boards were perfectly aligne. They are about halfway from sill to ground. My wife is 5 foot and has no issues getting in. My only issue is I bought the smart step. When trying to connect to app, it says enter password, which is controller ID. I tried everything I could on control box. All denied. I will call amp when they are open for guidance, which they are amazing on. ... show more

The steps are high quality and engineering is above expectations. Don’t think these are easy to install because they are not. Once your done they look and function well but your going to endure more stress than you should have. The problem IMO is the very simplistic drawings in the instructions that leads to orientation problems and installing and deinstalling to correct items installed in the wrong location. This could have been avoided if their was better part labeling and clearer drawings. If you are not one that can get into very tight places and make out very very unclear wiring directions the wiring phase is going to drive you insane. Let me start by saying the harness on the driver side rear had to be lengthened to allow for running the wires in a manner as to protect them from damage and heat. I honestly think that you should leave this one to a competent installer that does this repeatedly. In the end your going to be happier with your purchase. A word to Amp, lengthen the harness, after spending 2k the consumer should not have to go through this stress. Also provide a user install video, this would be most beneficial. As a final word I suggest you DO NOT install the steps until the very last step. The motors are self limiting but upon initial power up could bind up. This step will save you so much wasted time. My Jeep dealer offered to install for around 385 dollars, that would have been a small amount to avoid the stress of dealing with the poor labeling and unclear instructions. ... show more

Im not a person that write bad reviews. But the experience in this case is inaceptable. It broke after less than 3 months of operation. I filed a warranty claim and have to wait up to 4 weeks. They haven't worked for 2 months. It's frustrating after making a considerable investment. They say it's the control unit, but they don't have any in stock. I tried to return them, but they tell me I have to return them through Amazon. This is not posible, the return window closed in december🤪. They actually look great on my Gladiator, but now I'm wondering how long they'll actually last. They only worked for me in November, December, and January. I think it could be a waste of money over time. My Gladiator currently runs with one step open and the other closed. The Gladiator is new, a 2024 Mojave. I bought it a few days before ordering the steps. I dont recomended buy this product. The warranty offer 5 years of replacement wich is a good incentive to buy the product however in my case i think is a nightmare…. ... show more
