  • Good product if you don’t have thousands to spend on gutters.
Size Name: 25 Pack Style: Gutter Guard Color Name: Black
Once I got the hang of it, I managed the installation with little problems. I just used tin snips to cut. As per another recommendation, I made a tool to help me. It was a metal hook. Once the guard is in place they move when you install the next one. I used the metal hook to grab it and put it back in place. I did cut my hands up. Tried to use gloves but sometimes they got in my way. I like that you can easily make special cuts if you need to. Glad I bought them. Only time will tell if they last. I am almost 60 and a female. If I can do it anyone can. ... show more

  • Simple Installation!
Size Name: 25 Pack Style: Gutter Guard Color Name: Black
Of the three types of leaf guards I've tried using, the Amerimax Lock-In has definitely been the easiest to install. There are no holes to drill or screws needed, a big plus when working on a ladder. Gently bend back edge of guards upward to slide under the bottom edge of the shingles. Depending on how the shingles are nailed, it may occasionally be necessary to trim guards to fit, but that's no problem with good, compound shears. In addition, it is my opinion that this design will prove to be as good as the best for handling heavy rain. For steeply pitched roofs (40 deg or more) I had good success installing upside down - that is, with the slot for the gutter edge turned up instead of down (see photo), Easier to install, the gutter edge slot forms a barrier to catch heavy rainfall, and does not appear to trap very many leaves. (My house is surrounded by deciduous trees. Fall is over and I have not cleaned the leaf guard.) ... show more

  • Install tips - It's easy
Size Name: 25 Pack Style: Gutter Guard Color Name: Black
I love them so far, but only 4 stars because I can't review how they've lasted through the winter because I just installed. I bought one box which covered my whole house with three sections left over. I'll keep these spares in the garage, although I doubt I'll need them. Measure first, and buy enough. One box is roughly 70 feet, (NOT 75 because each section overlaps by half an inch, and because with each run you'll be cutting a piece in half.) I found installation very easy using almost zero tools but there were a few small issues and I have a few tips. 1) After cleaning my gutters and thoroughly flushing the downspouts, I learned that the "low end" isn't where the downspouts are located. I've read that it's best if I adjust the height of the gutter so they're higher by 1/4" for every 10 feet. If you're going to do this, do it at this point. Although I didn't do this, (and may regret it later) I noticed that you don't need a level... Water itself will tell you if it's running toward the downspout, and in my book that's good enough. 2) Make a very simple but handy tool: Straighten a wire coathanger, then bend 1/8" of the tip at a 90 degree angle with pliers and form the other side so you can grip it to pull. You can use this to "hook" into the mesh to manipulate it around as you overlap the ends of each section. You'll find that the previously-placed piece will shift back under the shingles when you place the new one, so this helps. I also tried a large paperclip with a loop over my index finger which worked fine too, but after I lost it in the weeds I went with the coathanger. 3) In some spots, the gutter guards wouldn't slip far enough under. In those areas I cut some of the gutter guard away. You'll also have to cut the "final" piece at each run for a proper fit. 4) Yes tin snips would work, but for speed and straight cuts I used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel (And when I say use safety goggles, I REALLY mean it for this job!) A Dremel with a heavy-duty cutoff wheel would also work and would probably get better results. File or heavy-grit sand the ends to get rid of cutting points. 5) In my case I have asphalt shingles, which flex, so this probably made things easier. Although instructions say put the mesh under shingles, in my case the underlayment goes all the way to the edge, so I put the mesh under the underlayment. Probably not critical but it seems less likely to damage the underlayment that way. 6) In a few places there were nails in the wood, below the underlayment. They catch in the mesh. If you find it won't go under far enough, check for a nail and lift it up over the nail. 7) I found it easier to go right-to-left than left-to-right, because the piece on the left should go above the piece on the right. ... show more

  • Installed several months ago, they've worked perfectly!
Size Name: 25 Pack Style: Gutter Guard Color Name: Black
After doing a lot of research on different gutter systems, I chose the Amerimax Gutter Guards. These installed very easily, using a pair of metal shears to trim the size at the corners. After several months, I got up on the roof to check out how they'd been working. I was happily surprised to find NO debris of any kind in the gutters. I have several trees and normally I have to clean out my gutters every three to four weeks. This is the best home-improvement I've done in years. Thanks Amerimax! ... show more

  • Very Easy to install. Must have!
Size Name: 25 Pack Style: Gutter Guard Color Name: Black
You slide each 3ft gutter guard under your roof shingles then snap them to the gutter. Really easy! I like how they overlap each other about 1 cm on each end so that one will not fly off but I flexible enough for you to remove one if you have to. I used my gutter snips to cut the excess length on the last one at the end of the gutter. I just hope they resist corrosion even though it states that they are power-coated for long life. That's my only concern. Will have to wait one winter where it's covered with snow and ice for a few months then inspect it in the spring for any corrosion. Update 4/20/2020: Coating is still great! No corrosion. Also my neighbor just had his giant tree removed because of all the problems he was having. I will never get leaves on the roof but will still keep the gutter guards on. ... show more

  • Good product overall
Size Name: 25 Pack Style: Gutter Guard Color Name: Black
Good quality, the mesh holes are small enough to keep the smaller helicopter seeds from getting through. I live in NE Ohio so these things are all over the place. We’ll see how they hold up with the snow, but according to other reviewers they seem to hold up just fine, maybe some excess icicles in some instances. But so far so good with the storms we’ve had to this point over the summer. Install is fairly easy, just slip the top between the starter strip shingle and top layer of shingle, and they seat right up against the top lip of the gutter. Hardest part of the install is cutting the screens, which isnt too bad if you have a good paid of cutting shears. My roof isn’t too steep, so for steeper pitches you may have to bend the top of the guard back when installing between shingles. Doesnt seem to be a need to screw the ends down onto the gutter, but I might just to prevent any sort of shifting down the road. On the 90 degree corners, I simply overlap the screens (cut the groove of the overlapped layer off) and take a small wire and tie the screens together so no leaves/debris get caught between the mesh. Overall good product! ... show more
