This shoulder bag is not justified in the ad photos at all. It is not shiny or waxed leather, instead it's a supple, super soft, beautiful leather. I also would not call it 'dark brown', I'm leaning towards 'sunset', a really unique rich, reddish brown. I am also very surprised how spacious it is - so much storage that is all completely lined as well. There are not one but two zippered pouches on each end of the bag, perfect for sunglasses. Plus a generous magnetic button front pouch with the embossed American logo. The inside is ample and perfect for a full sized wallet, small make up bag, and plenty of odds and ends. Just deep enough but not too deep that you can't find anything. There are also two inner slide in compartments that fit a large phone just fine + an additional zippered pouch. Tons of storage! And best of all, the divine smell of real leather. Over the last few years I have only purchased real leather hand bags for their long lasting durability and styling. This bag is made very well for sure. This American Leather Co. bag is a great size and fits comfortably under my arm. I also like the pairing of the antique brass hardware. This handbag is the perfect size for me. I can fit everything I need in there and then some, but it’s not encroaching on that frumpy territory where it’s too big or cumbersome. I typically look for purses with a zipping main compartment so if I drop my purse, everything doesn’t fly out. But the way this one snaps closed, as you can see in the photo I’m adding, combined with the slight narrowing toward the top, it’s unlikely that anything would spill out. It feels very secure. The side pockets are longer than they look and actually allow room behind the front of the purse, not just along the edge like it seems it would be. The hardware is nice and the zippers are a good quality. The leather is lightly pebbled and supple. I decided to keep one of the paper wads that come in this at purchase, and leave it along the bottom of the bag to maintain more rigidity, and that allows it to stand up when I set it down. The American Leather Co. is not messing around when they say "BUTTERY SOFT LEATHER". It's just lovely. The build quality is also there and it should last a good while. The wife really likes this purse, and she has a lot. Funnily, she refers to this as her "small purse", but I think it's a good size - I'm always razzing her about lugging around so much stuff. The strap is pretty short, so I got an off-road recovery strap to better fit her needs. At the price of $165 when I got it, I think it's a good value. ... show more

I rarely buy bags outside of my usual brand, but when I saw this I wanted to give a try. First, the leather smell is amazing. The quality is gorgeous and it feels like a genuine product that will last for a long time. The side pockets are fun and great for gum or chaptstick. The inside is smaller than my other bags, but there are plenty of pockets and places to organize your stuff. The clip top is great too - there is no zipper which I usually need, but it would take away from the aesthetic of this purse if they added it. Leather is high-quality. Premium-feel and appears to be very well made. Strap is comfortable to wear. One of the main compartments closes with a magnetic closure only, so it doesn't full seal. This wasn't a big deal to me as there are zippered compartments too, but you should be aware of this as it's not shown very well in the photos. Had a slightly noticeable leathery scent on the inside initially, but it seems to have faded (or I got used to it.) This is a high quality, leather purse with outer and inner compartments for organization that I simply love. The quality and the color of the indigo blue leather is striking. The only thing to be aware of is that the shoulder strap is very short. The purse hangs only to my waist. I intend to buy a separate strap so that I can use it as a crossbody bag. This purse is gorgeous. It is SO soft, the (real) leather is buttery. I love the little side zippered pocket that can fit my phone (see pic). It is large enough to be a mom tote if you have a toddler. The turquoise color is not too flashy, more of a light blue. Great gift for any mother in law or mother for Mother’s Day too. ... show more
