Update: after skating in these once a week for about 3 months the ankles broke down enough that she had no ankle support whatsoever. We had buy her new skates. These are OK skates for the price. My daughter recently started taking lessons and we didn't want to use the rental skates, so we chose these instead. They are cute, She loves the pink details on them. I feel like the ankle support is not as stiff as it should be. She sometimes has trouble keeping her ankles straight as even tied as tight as possible there is quite a bit of lateral give to these. The rental skates and more expensive ones from the skate shop are stronger and don't have that lateral flex so she keeps her ankles straight. The blades are not stainless, they are nickel plated, so if they are not very carefully wiped completely dry after each use they will rust. They also don't seem to stay sharp for as long as a higher end skate does, and we have had to get them sharpened more frequently. I do feel they fit true to size, my daughter normally wears a 1-2 shoe size and these are a 2 and fit her well with a bit of growing room. ... show more

We have two pairs. The ankle support is pretty good - much better than the skates our rink rents out. My girls love the look and they are comfortable. My kids are casual skaters not serious figure skaters so I can not judge them for more serious use. Only downside is (i) the laces slide through the loops very easily so you need to maintain tension at all times when lacing, and (ii) the laces are really long so I have to wrap them around their ankle. When wrapping around the ankle they can slide and then be loose so now I put the lace through the loop at the back, but that is pesky to do given (i). ... show more

Nice pair of starter skates! The boots were not flimsy as some other brands, and provided adequate ankle support for a beginner. The skates arrived sharpened, even came with small blade guards....an added bonus! My 8 year old daughter loved these skates. As a former competitive figure skater myself, I found these skates to be a good choice for a casual, beginner skater. If your child decides to take weekly lessons and considers competition, you will want to consider a more professional boot/skate. But again, this boot is a nice alternative to the unsharpened, dull, rental skates often provided at ice rinks. ... show more

Bare bones, basic cheap skates. We got these because they were inexpensive, and our 6 year-old daughter is growing so fast that it's unlikely she can wear them for more than a year. So we weren't too surprised by the skimpy quality. But note that 1) there is minimal ankle support 2) there is minimal padding inside 3) the blades are not sharp. In our case at least, the blades seemed mismatched to the boot, being too long in the back. These skates in no way compare with our previous ones, the Riedall SS615, which are far sturdier; maybe that's why they were nearly 2x more expensive ; ) Oh well, live and learn. ... show more

They are perfect! My daughter absolutely loves her ice skates! The fit is great as well. She's normally a 12-13 so I bought a 13 and they fit well with a little room for growth. Shipping was reasonable, they arrived the day they were supposed to. Only issue is the length of the shoe strings, they are incredibly long. Gotta find some shorter laces since she hates having the extra length wrapped around. ... show more
