Here's a tip to know how fresh roasted beans are: draw the air out of the bag thru the one way valve until the bag is tight around the beans. Freshly roasted beans will continue to outgas and the bag will "loosen" around the beans. These did not. Attached is the bag of dark roast beans that arrived 5 days ago, I removed the air then, and it's still the same, no outgas at all. Stale beans. Also, I ordered all 3, Dark, Medium and Light roast; I opened the medium roast first (after a day with no outgas) and tried it, it was dark roasted and not very good. Similarly the next day tried the light roast, also not fresh, but tasted a bit better, I would call it medium roast, not light, slight amount of oil showing on the beans. I like a strong,flavorful cup of coffee-nothing weak or watered down. I love espresso roasts with milk, but I also love a good light roast. I want to be wowed by my morning Cup, but I was not at all impressed with this Go for The Bold. Sure it’s a dark roast, but just totally lacking in flavor. It could be side of the road diner coffee for all the flavor it has. I wish I could send it back. And now i doubt I’ll try the other AmazonFresh coffees. ... show more

Wow, this coffee has almost no flavor. Initially, the beans did not even really have much aroma. The first batch was very bland, Folger's was better. So I left in the newly purchased fancy container with CO2 release and a week later, it smelled better. So, I tried a second batch and again, really no flavor. Not acidic, not really offensive, just boring as the most bland diner coffee I can imagine. What's up with this? A Seattle based mega company with whole bean BORING coffee!!!!! And you must buy three bags with no returns. Hmmm, I feel ripped off by a company I could not be more pleased with. Maybe the Las Vegas heat killed it in transport. The coffee is a 2, but I give one star because it cost so much to buy three bags. Hey, offer a sample bag, how about that? I also bought three bags of the hazelnut and it is just average, at least it has some flavor, but not nearly as good as Seattle's Best I can buy at the grocery store. Hard to figure. In the trash go the other 3 bags and I will only buy one type of coffee I really like from Amazon, but if they have their own web site, I am going there to purchase direct.     • Amazing bang for the buck, BUT ...

A two pound bag for half the price of a one-pound bag of competitive coffees. OK, it's not the world's champion coffee. But you'll want to stock up on this as Covid-19 dries up the supply of those premium coffees that are getting hard to get. This is MORE than satisfactory, especially taking into account the incredibly low price. I bought it out of curiosity. Although a bit over-roasted and coarse in flavor it beats all supermarket grade coffees. On a scale similar to judging wines, this gets and 88 or 89. That's not bad. UPDATE (by the way, my package did outgas, but not much, due to delay in shipping) However, I stored it under good conditions for aging, and it finished releasing its gas, and now it tastes much smoother. Sort of like letting wine "breathe". Update on Juen 25, nine months later. It has not aged too well, because a bitter component has increased. I drop its score to about 80. So it is an emergency coffee, almost a last resort. Sorry. I will not be ordering any more of this. ... show more

We love dark roast but this blend was bitter. I tried various amounts of beans as I weigh them to assist in making sure I can consistently brew great cups of coffee. Went from 60g per 12cups down to 45g....and it didn't get better. Did a double check and brewed our 'regular' Morning Joe...and it was delicious!. ... show more

    • Tastes like a cheap french brew

Based on the color and taste this is actually a french brew not a dark brew. Typically french brews use cheap beans that are not good for coffee and over cook them to remove most of the bad taste and I am pretty sure that describes this coffee. I tested this with three other dark brew coffees so I could compare the taste. I made them as a cold brew as I am looking for an inexpensive dark brew that has decent flavor. 2 of the other 3 were cheaper sale coffees from the local grocery store (1 french brew, 1 dark italian brew) and 1 was more somewhat more expensive coffee on sale. I will say hands down this was by far the worst. It had a strongly earthy bitter taste that I get from super budget k-cups I have purchased in the past. The other french brew was far better tasting as it wasn't bitter just that over-roasted french brew taste that I don't really like. The other two were actually pretty good and the expensive one was actually kind of sweet which I didn't expect in a cold brew. With all that being said I am going to use a small amount in my coffee until its gone and never order it again. ... show more

I bought this coffee because I didn’t feel like heading out to Costco to stock up there like I normally do. Price was good and Amazon-branded products hadn’t let me down yet. Well, this one was a huge let down. We have a mid-range espresso maker (DeLonghi Magnifica S) that has made a great cup of coffee out of every kind of beans we’ve put in it previously, from fancy name brand down to budget grocery store brand. Until now. This Amazon coffee is weak and mostly tasteless. I like to set my coffee maker to make two shots of extra strong espresso and add cashew milk and a splash of creamer to it. When I made the first cup with these beans in my customary way, it was almost undrinkable, like there was no coffee in it at all. Tried it again later that day and tasted it before I added anything to it. It was worse than Folger’s made with a Mr. Coffee machine. Very, very disappointed and I will not be buying this product again. ... show more
