  • Not good for 8-1/2x11" papers
Style: 1 Pack - Black Pattern Name: Folder
If you are trying to organize/store regular 8-1/2x11" papers in this file, don't bother, because your papers will completely obscure the dividing tabs, which are set very low, completely defeating the purpose of the organizer.

  • Great for the price!
Style: 2 Pack - Black/Gray Pattern Name: Folder
Bought this to store birthday cards and other greeting cards. They are sturdy. One was black, the other gray. In one, I labeled each pocket by month. In the other, I labeled the pockets by event. (Engagement, wedding, baby, friendship etc.) The elastic loop will not work if your folder is completely expanded. A simple solution is to loop a rubberband through the elastic loop to extend it. You can even use an elastic pony tail holder to make it look more professional. ... show more

  • One Major Functional Flaw
Style: 1 Pack - Black Pattern Name: Folder
While the structural plastic used will be good for storing paperwork, there is no way it would hold up to everyday use. I am using this folder to store probate paperwork for the long term. The accordion function works extremely well to fit lots of paperwork within, but the stretching cord used to secure the top does not stretch far at all. I have enough paperwork to expand the folder to 3" thick. With that, the cord will not stretch far enough to wrap around the securing disk on the cover flap. In order to secure the cover, I had to use a split ring attached to the cord (see image). Other than that, it will serve it's purpose for me. ... show more

  • Paper Doesn’t Fit Properly
Style: 1 Pack - Black Pattern Name: Folder
It’s hard to explain. At the bottom of each section there is a little part of the plastic where a paper can catch. If you don’t move the paper to the side of this plastic catch, the paper will stick up about a half inch and obscure the labels. It’s a really annoying design flaw. I will be purchasing the type of expanding files that are made out of the brown paper/canvas from now on. Also, as everyone else has stated, the closure is too short to allow the file to fully expand. ... show more

  • I regret not buying one of the more expensive options ~
Style: 2 Pack - Black/Gray Pattern Name: Folder
This definitely one of those you get what you pay for things ~ cheap price for something cheaply made. They don't seem particularly sturdy and as others have complained you can't properly close these if you come anywhere close to the amount of paper it is officially supposed to be able to hold. I ended up taking one end of the elastic band that is supposed to hold it closed and threading it through the hole that was attaching it to the back of the folder so that only one side of the band was still attached and then looping the loose end around the button in the front in order to get it to close. I regret not buying one of the more expensive options ~ ... show more

  • Okay for very light use only.
Style: 1 Pack - Black Pattern Name: Folder
While I was initially impressed with the look and layout of this expanding file folder, it quickly became apparent that it just doesn't cut the mustard. The fact it has more insert separators than most of the similar file folders I've looked at initially got my hopes up. However, once I actually tried to use this to even 1/4 of its "supposed" capacity, I quickly found out there's a major design flaw with this item. They've conveniently made it so you could fill this folder with quite a bit of letter sized paper, however, if you try to put in enough paper to where the folder has to start expanding out even just a little (and I mean probably less than 1/8 the amount of paper that "could" physically be placed in this folder) the strap that you use to hold the cover closed simply cannot stretch enough to go around the circular clasp to keep the cover closed. Additionally, if you place standard letter sized paper in this folder (which you have to place in landscape mode - i.e. the 11" length running left to right and the 8 1/2" width running top to bottom) the tabs that are so conveniently placed at the top so you can quickly find the category of the section you have stored certain documents in becomes completely covered by the papers placed inside. In other words, this file folder's dimensions needed to simply be about 1/2" taller so the tabs would still be visible above the inserted papers. Just 1/2" would have done it, but sadly, this is a major flaw that pretty much defeats the entire purpose of having "tabbed" inserts. So, does it hold paper? Sure. But it does a pretty poor job in the "organizational" properties. And if you intend to use this with even remotely larger than 1/8 to 1/4 its capacity, be prepared to hold the cover closed on your own as its clasp will not reach over its circular holder to lock it in place. ... show more

  • Poor closure design, Don’t care for it
Style: 1 Pack - Black Pattern Name: Folder
This file folder’s material is of typical & acceptable quality for this type of folder and will be great for anyone needing to store a minimal amount of paper inside, probably 15 sheets per divider if you want to be able to close it properly. I do not care for the folder due to the restrictive & awkward closure. It’s my mistake for not paying attention to the closure on this file folder before buying it. My previous file folders have had the closure reversed (stretch band on top with circle disc/closure on the bottom) with an adequate length of band which makes it easy to stuff the file folder full and still be able to close it. This Amazon Basics folder is not designed like that. I’m posting a pic of my old folder compared to this new one to clarify the difference in the closures. (Both folders are empty in photo) I recommend you look elsewhere if you need to fill a file folder to full capacity. I see now where some reviewers had the ingenuity to add rubber bands to keep it closed but it shouldn’t be necessary to do this not to mention it looks like an accident waiting to happen. I’m giving it three stars for its reasonable price & decent materials but the design of the closure is flawed in my opinion & I don’t recommend it. ... show more

  • This product is awesome! I used one to organize all my stickers.
Style: 2 Pack - Black/Gray Pattern Name: Folder
This product is awesome! I used one to organize all my stickers. They all fit in nicely. I attached couple pictures below so you can see how much they can hold up. After the file accordion fully expanded, you won't be able to close it. But I attached couple rubber bands to secure it a little bit. It works wonderful! I am loving it! I will use the other one to organize my daughters' art works and school works. ... show more
