I'm very happy with this toy work bench. Here are the pros and here are the cons: Pros: The workbench is made from real wood, so you can tangibly feel how sturdy it is. The workbench pieces are clearly comprised of quality material so you can tell that this is going to last. The instructions to put this together was super clear; the pieces they were talking about are clearly labeled (as you can see in my photo). The wooden blocks or pieces have stickers with alphabets on them letting you know what piece the build instruction is referring to. The pieces are also cute for the kids and the wrench, screw driver, and hammer actually work with the bolts and nails it comes with. It also comes with lots of screws, bolts, nails, blocks, etc. to have kids practice building their own imaginative creations. A big plus is the gears you can set up on the work bench to teach kids how gears work (if you spin it, it spins all the other gears with it as well). Lastly, the bottom rack is a very nice storage area for the extra pieces and for adding any previous toy tools the kids may have already had (in my photo the bottom right blue box of tools was a separate toy toolbox that I just put under this new work bench). Cons: Don't really have many cons so instead here are some wishes regarding this product: I wish it came with instructions on something specific you can make with the blocks and pieces it comes with. It'd be neat if there was a specific product the kids could build when they are given this work bench. Instead the various pieces feel like the kids are just practicing using a wrench, screw driver, and hammer. It'd be neat if Amazon Basics comes up with specific products you can build on this work bench. The hammerhead is also plastic, but wish it was some kind of soft rubber instead (just so it'd be less noisy when the kids are hammering... but a hammer is a hammer... it will be noisy regardless). Tips on putting this together: Putting this together felt like putting together an Ikea furniture. It took me 1.5 hours while watching an episode of Outlast. Much faster once I got my drill battery charged. The instructions say all you need is a screw driver. But don't be fooled. You WILL want a drill. I started off with a screw driver and it just took too long and I risked stripping the screws. Once I started using the drill, it was ten times faster. Read the instructions carefully. I sped through some parts and had to undo it because I didn't realized at some points, you screw three pieces together at once with 1 screw. Overall - this is a great product.     • Good structure, not fun to put together.
This wooden workbench is really well made. Putting it together takes quite a bit of time though, it comes in quite a bit of pieces. I think my only complaint would be the instructions. When you're putting the first few pieces together the picture shows to put the legs the wrong way. If you skip through a few more pages you will see that they are supposed to be a different way. This made putting it together take a little longer, since I had to take everything I'd done back apart to fix it. After getting it together it feels really solid and durable. My daughter has always wanted to help me build things, but now she can build her on own or help me with her own little tools. ... show more

This is a great workbench toy. Not to difficult to put this one together. Good clear directions and just take time to lay everything out before starting. So much better than the plastic ones you find out there. Sturdy and easy to keep things nice and organized. Do wish that it came with more gears. You do get 2 small drawers, 4 links, 4 gears, 10 screws, 6 nails, 10 nuts, hammer, wrench, screwdriver and a saw with this workbench. Smooth surfaces on everything so not going to get hurt from pinching or anything like that with this toy. Looks nice too once it is all set up. ... show more

    • Once assembled this is a fun item for play
The good news is this wooden workbench is sturdy and fun for toddlers to play with, the bad news is you will need to break out your own power screwdriver to complete the assembly and decipher some terrible instructions for putting it all together. I gave this item to my grandson which meant my daughter and son-in-law had to put it together. He's an electrical engineer that put a camera system on Mars and she's an attorney but it took them over an hour to put this workbench together partly because the instructions were terrible and partly because of so many screws involved in the assembly. He told me that no one should attempt it without a power screwdriver. Once completed my grandson couldn't wait to start his first project and has all the time in the world for it. ... show more

I just received this set today and quickly set it up in the garage as my husband was doing some "wood work". Well guess what? The 4yr old also worked! Great set and very well made.
