  • These are great!
Actually really like these paints. Took a gamble with basics brand and I really like them. They're a great consistency and very pigmented. Lighter colors need more coats on black, but were visible and dry quickly so I could go and dab more on after doing other spots instead of having to wait to apply coats. I painted 5 cotton Gildan tshirts. Prewashed, laundry detergent. Dried on high with no dryer sheets. Painted, let dry 24 hours. Ironed the opposite side AND I laid a thin towel over the paint side and ironed over that too. On high. Then I tumbled them in a dryer. So far, we've worn and washed them twice and the paint looks as good as new. The paints do vary with colors though, so you have to test them each out. Some are thinner, some are goopier, some are much darker than others. I am sure it just varies as the chemistry of different pigments requires different formulations. ... show more

  • Easy to use for a beginner, inadequate blue for experienced painter
Amazon Basics are just that, and this set is a great starter set. There is a small piece of paper with all the instructions, and don't lose that. It is easy to overlook. It gives important instructions for beginner. For example, always use paint on washed fabric, because "new" fabric will have a finish on it that inhibits absorbtion. And heat set with an iron. The only thing it doesn't tell you is that you can clean your brush with water. It bleeds through a fair amount, so take the instructions about putting something between layers seriously, or use it to your advantage. I wanted to paint the same design on several napkins so I let it bleed through from one napkin to the next, making a basic outline of the design that could be easily filled in. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a wide range of colors, many of which would be mixed from basic colors of blue, yellow and red. This is good for beginners, who don't always know how to make other colors from the basics . More experienced painters may wish for more of the basics, to mix their own. The red and yellow they give you work mixing, I got some nice greens by overpainting right on the cloth. But the blue is not right for mixing; for example, I could not get anything close to the blue needed to paint a flag. But I didn't downgrade it for the blue, as most sets I have seen have the same issue. However, if the manufacturer wanted to improve the product and be better than the competition, instead of the lighter blue supplied (lighter is easy to mix) they could include a "truer" blue. Edit: I added a picture of some of the colors on a piece of cotton, after I washed it in cold water and air-dried it several times. There is only one coat of paint except for the green, which is blue painted on top of yellow while it is still wet. You may want 2 coats on the black and red, although the pinks and the yellow seemed to cover completely with one. You can see the blues clearly. The closest I could get to navy was by adding black, shown right above the yellow. I was still pleased with the colors after washing and definitely maintain my 5* rating., ... show more

  • Kids loved it!
I had the kids use this to paint their very own canvas and they loved it. Many colors and nice size bottles. Very good choice for quality, quantity and price!

  • Good Box of Fabric Paint
This box of waterproof fabric paint is a great staple for any craft room. There are 24 colors including a metallic gold and silver, and 4 fluorescent colors. The set includes all the basics, with the exception of a navy or royal blue. That's an oversight in my opinion as I'm more likely to use either of those, then say, the lemon yellow, or light green. Still - it's a nice set, packaged in a good sturdy box. For a bit over $1 a bottle, this is a decent set of fabric paint for when the creativity kicks in. ... show more

  • Creative & Fun Fabric Paint Set
These fabric paints are really fun! They inspired me to make some lively T-shirts with all the bright colors that are included in this set. The selection of 24 colors is great, with everything I needed to paint flowers, abstract designs, and various patterns. The paints have a nice consistency for blending or for using straight out of the bottles. I found that some colors are a bit transparent, so they work best on white or light colored fabrics. When painting on shirts, I put a big piece of cardboard inside of the shirt to stretch it flat and keep it in place. This also prevents the paint from bleeding through to the back of the shirt. Looking forward to having a creative painting party with these colorful fabric paints! ... show more

  • Lots of Color and Colorfast on Fabric
We chose these paints for crafting and painting on T-shirts at our annual campout. My wife tested them on a textured canvas. The colors were consistent and well mixed. Of the 24 colors, there is a good assortment including some neon colors and two metallic colors. (See pictures.) One color that seems to be missing is a Navy or Royal Blue. The two blue colors are not a true primary hue. The paints are thick and apply easily straight from the bottle. We are looking forward to working more with these paints with our friends and family at our annual campout. ... show more

  • Some colors show up better than others
This set of fabric paints comes with a decent amount of colors, some warm, cool, and neon. Depending on what color fabric you are putting certain colors on, the color may not show up at all, or very little. I decided to try to put some colors on my hand and see how it would go on a red shirt. The neon yellow on my thumb and pointer finger barely show up. The two middle colors show up okay, and I used white on my pinky which shows up as pink with a tiny bit of white showing up. It seems the paint is a bit on the thin side, which is probably why the pigment isn't very strong. When I use these again, I will opt for a light-color fabric so the colors show up better. ... show more

  • Works much better with light colors
The Amazon Basics Permanent Fabric Paint is a nice set of 24 colors in 2 ounce bottles. There is a little bit of everything included, fluorescents, metallics, and classic colors. This paint is supposed to be good on t shirts, jeans, canvas, etc., but after trying it out, I feel that you need to be using something that is very light colored for these paints to show up. The paint isn't supposed to crack or peel once it is dried, but I can't vouch for that yet.....I will see how the items I painted on last and then I will update this review. ... show more
