  • Great little welder
Great for the price. This is my first wire fed and I'm used to stick welding. I like that it does both. I have been using it on 240v and I get better consistency on welds with 240v. It was easy to get up and running, and adjusting the amps and volts is right on the front. It is fairly lightweight but seems well built. Very small and portable, and the 120v option makes it possible to use outside of the shop. ... show more

  • For the beginner, and the price, not bad
I had zero experience with welding, it was something I had always wanted to try. I felt a bit overwhelmed reading about all the different types of welds and techniques and decided to just get this and try it out. With this cheap unit, I wasn't too worried about ruining a (very) expensive tool and so its good to learn some basic technique. Now, I will say you're somewhat limited as to what you can do with this machine- flux core welding simplifies the process, but it is not suited for all metals, and the power of this machine effectively limits the size of the welds you can do. It is well suited for Aluminium, but it is NOT suited for cast iron, which unfortunately was what I wanted to ultimately make some repairs on. For my cast iron project (a fine crack in a radiator) I ultimately decided to repair with epoxy (JB weld) -- after consulting the JB weld company to ask for a product recommendation (they have MANY variants on their product, some for high heat, some that specifically say radiator...) the representative ultimately suggested I go with regular old original JB weld. Go figure. Even though a radiator is "hot" (200+f) its not "high heat (500+f") I chose to use the JB weld because everything I read indicated that cast iron is one of the most difficult metals to weld effectively, and doing so incorrectly can change the properties of the metal forming "white iron" which is then impossible to weld. As far as the machine goes, the controls are relatively intuitive and the form is un-intimidating-- not a professional, industrial looking machine. Again, for my use case, trying to learn the basics of welding and get some practice with technique, this was fine. Also a plus, you can just plug it into any old outlet. So its portable. For a handyman for something to take on jobs to make small repairs on site, this could be ideal. ... show more

  • Don't waste your money
We returned it. It was missing parts it said it had on the description. The plastic was very cheap. I would not rebuy.

  • Good for Small Scale Work
I use this unit for very small scale tack welds. There is a lot of versatility here, but it isn't the most powerful unit. Jack of all trades, master of none. It is a good beginner unit and it can take care of some DIY projects, but for anything more serious than that, you may want to look into something more powerful. For hobby level work, this is priced extremely competitively and is very easy to pick up. The size and ease of use is great. No issues so far. ... show more

  • Capable Machine
This welder is very easy to use and works well for gasless flux core MIG and stick welding. Its functionality is quite good, featuring a SYN that increases the voltage as the wire speed (amperage) is increased, making the setup process straightforward. This machine can also be used for solid wire welding with the addition of a gas regulator and a bottle of inert welding gas, which produces much cleaner welds. It is compatible with both 240V and 120V power sources, thanks to the included adapter. The duty cycle is 40% at maximum amperage: 140A at 240V and 110A at 120V. I successfully welded 10-gauge steel (approximately 3mm) using the supplied flux core wire without any issues. The welder appears to be well-made and offers good value. The display is bright and easy to read. I particularly enjoy using flux core for certain projects, especially when my stick welding skills are a bit rusty. Speaking of stick welding, it handled 6013 and 7018 electrodes up to 1/8 inch (on 240V) without problems. While I have only had this welder for less than a month, it seems very good in my opinion. ... show more

  • Good starting welder for newby or kid
This is a nice first welder to learn basic skills and see if you are interested in welding as a hobby or professionally. It is small and easy to use on small projects. Great for a kid that is interested in welding but not committed to it yet. Worth the price and it is well designed.

  • Gun jams
Bought this to weld aluminum. Have not been able to because gun jams every time I've tried to use it. Have not tried other welding types yet.
