    • Buy the XR module-- not the sync 2
I've had the sync 2 with 3rd gen camera and mini cameras for several years. It worked well for what I needed. Not always the best at capturing video but worked. My problem happened when I upgraded my home Xfinity Comcast wifi modem to the XB8. I don't know lot about this technology but it is a triband with faster speeds. The sync 2 would not hook to the wifi with the new modem. I tried all the steps listed in their help area several times. No luck. I wrote blinkcustomer service. First, they didn't read my email. They would just send me emails ever couple days telling me to do the things I already did. I started googling and found this is a problem with several models of xfinity modems. I ordered the new XR sync module. It worked with my new wifi and set up easily. It also worked with my older cameras. This is really not a review of the camera abilities; really just to advise to buy new model vs sync 2 model. I appreciate not having to pay the monthly fee to hold video. The sync module does it and will pay for itself in 6 months. If you are going to have 24 hr constant recording you'll need the subscription. ... show more

I have a blink sync module 2 already but with a metal pole building in the way, it could not reach a wireless camera I wanted to put inside my enclosed tool trailer (also metal). I purchased this module XR hub with a outdoor 4 camera and it works well getting inside my tool trailer and past the metal pole building. Picture quality is not great, but I just want to know that something is not right when there should not be any "activity" inside my trailer. I sleep much better a night knowing my camera system is protecting my large investment. I would recommend this system to anyone needing a good, low cost security solution that works. ... show more

    • Not Worth It doesn't work or extend range
Update 2: received an email on December 26th from an executive representative from blink . We have been emailing back and forth for the last few days and this executive representative has asked me to grant them access to my account which I did and to send a picture showing the location of the sink module and the camera . My sink module is located in my garage approximately 20 ft away from where the camera is located on the outside of the garage. So there is only one thin wall separating the two . The blink representative told me that I need to move the sync module closer to the camera which doesn't make sense because this sink module is supposed to extend your range up to 400 ft away and it's only 20 ft away right now . I find blink customer service is not very helpful or knowledgeable . And when I bring up the fact that one of their previous representatives, from a call last week, told me there is a known issue and they know that these are not working the way they should the new representative ignores that comment and will not respond to it which leads me to believe that they are hiding something . As of right now I have called Amazon customer service to file a complaint for them selling a product that has a known technical issue and the only resolution that Amazon was able to give me is to order a new sync module XR set it up and then return the other one for a full refund . Update 1: spoke with blink customer service again and gave them access to my blink app and they can see that the XR module is not providing the range it is supposed to. They then connected me with their technical support team who verified that they are experiencing issues with this module XR . Again they did not offer to replace this module or to make this good they just said wait and you will get an email when they have discovered the issue with their module. They said it is a known issue I am not the only one experiencing this but I just ordered this because the blink team emailed me saying hey you should get one of these you'll extend your range you'll have longer battery life. But it's not the case this supplies less signal and less range than the standard module . I ordered this because 2 of my outdoor 4 cameras were farest away from the wifi. Once received and set up the XR module gives you 2 more networks to choose from: an extended range(xr) network allowing up to 250 feet and an extended range plus (XR Plus) networks allowing up to 400 feet. Note only 2 cameras at a time can use the xr networks, all others use wifi - this was Not well explained in the description. Here's where the issue starts once fully connected, the xr plus network with 400 ft range only gave me one red bar of signal. The xr network with 250 ft range gave me 4 green bars. I called blink customer support and they reviewed my camera settings and agreed that something is wrong as the xr plus should provide the strongest signal not the weakest. They didn't offer a replacement even though they admit it's not working correctly. So frustrating because this camera system is really easy and user friendly but the required sync module xr isn't working correctly and I purchased this specifier the extended range ... show more

The installation of the sync module was easy. I modified a mounting unit for the standard Sync unit to get the Sync XR unit to fit (XR is larger). Also had to use a different short charging cable because the XR uses type C connector not the micro. My Outdoor 4 camera is outside about 200ft away, transmitting through one exterior frame wall. The connection is good except, my wifi is slow (not Blink's fault), so there's about 3 seconds delay in video transmission. ... show more

    • Did not save data until after subscription ended and a reboot.
The hook-up on this was easy and fast, distance is great, worked with the new outdoor camera and an existing indoor blink camera without any extra steps. It did not sync the cloud's data of video or pictures to the device during the trial subscription. Additionally, it took a reboot/and Wi-Fi re-pairing to get the new outdoor blink camera to start working again after the trial ended. Now it appears to be working as expected. I have had Blink cameras both at home and my camp up in Maine for years now and have been very pleased with them. When I saw they now have an extended range I was thrilled as now I could be able to check on the boats at the dock in the summer when I'm not there. Well 4 days into the new XR system and have to say I'm pretty disappointed. I'm almost exactly 200 feet from the water and so far, they work about 25% of the time. Tried a couple times to set it on XR Mode and it wouldn't work. Finally got it to work on XR+ but like I said, maybe 25% of the time it will work, rest of the time is the clockwise symbol that it's trying to load. **** UPDATE 12/9/2024 **** So soon after this poor review I was contacted by Blink Support. They had me grant access to my system and looked into the issues I was having. They discovered I was connected to my 4G system and Blink operates on 2.4G. I switched my Sync module over to the 2.4 that I have for tank utility system this past weekend, and it now works perfectly. Big thank you to Kevin from Blink Technical support. ... show more
