This dress is designed for a pear shape. It also had a huge 5" difference between size 18 and 20 which meant complete alterations if I wanted to keep it. The material was soft and comfortable and it was the perfect color for the wedding. I have an hourglass shape and ended up having to take the dress in 8" in the hips, 3" for the bust, and 4" for the waist. I'm also 5'3" so I had to cut about 7" off the bottom so it wouldn't drag on the floor. I am really quite surprised by the quality of this dress. I love how generous the lace sleeves are. It has a nice flow! The fabric is a nice quality and the sequined lace provides an elegant touch. I will be proud to wear this at my sons wedding. It is bigger in the shoulders than I am used to. I have broad, thick shoulders and there is plenty of room. The only bad thing is that it is supposed to be tea length, but it is VERY long. I will certainly need about 6 inches taken off. I won’t diminish my rating though...it’s a beautiful dress. ... show more

I got this dress in a larger size first 18W, it was too large, so I ordered a return, and then also ordered that same dress in a smaller size. 16W came. In the end, both were too large for me, I ran out of time and had to wear something else from my closet. So I put both dresses in the same box, put the return codes in the box, and shipped them both back. You should have received both of them!! Please reply. Susan ... show more

This dressed looks like it was made for me! I'm a 42 chest (c cup) and normally a size 18 or 20- depending on the cut (I've big hips). But this 14 W fits me perfectly- loose even- tough not in the best- it's just right. So this is NOT my idea of a 14. The color is stunning- much prettier (and rosier) than pictured. I just ordered some rose gold shoes to go with it- they match perfectly. The gown is the perfect length- to the tops of my ballet flats (I'm 5'9")- so if you are much shorter than I am, you will need to hem it. I look so elegant in this!!! I was skeptical about buying a formal dresses online but I read the reviews and decided to take a chance on this Alex evening gown and am happy I did I bought the shell pink in size 24 which is what I normally wear and it fits me perfect l am 5"5in in height I like that the top of the dress and the sleeves are stretchy in a good way and reading the reviews help me and that's why am taking the time out to write this review to help someone that is plus size and afraid to buy online I recommend this dress and will buy again the dress was delivered way before time thanks very much for this very beautiful comfortable elegant dress ... show more
