I bought this toolbox to contain a 12 volt, 50 amp hour battery power supply that I built from 4, 3.2 volt, lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells and a 4S, 12v 40amp BMS. The case is idea for holding the battery, wiring and some accessories that I took on a week long, Boy Scout camping trip. I used the power supply to power a 9 inch USB fan, and a USB light that hung from the ceiling of the tent. I also used it to recharge my electronic devices while at camp. It barely put a dent in the storage capacity of the battery. The power supply has 2, 5 volt USB ports and a 12 volt (cigarette lighter-style) accessory power port. The power ports are switched and fuse protected. The battery has an in-line fuse and on-off switch as well as a digital voltage meter to measure the voltage of the battery. It works very well for my purposes. I cannot speak to the locking feature or the durability. I don't use the locking tabs, and I haven't had it long enough to critique the durability of the toolbox. ... show more

This box can be used for a variety of your storage and organizational needs! I was looking for a tool-box style clear organizer and storage case/box, larger sized, durable, and reasonably priced. I saw many similar boxes, but most were too small and/or not clear plastic and over-priced. This box works great for storing & organizing my limited sewing supplies and seems pretty sturdy. Handle seems well attached and easy to hold, plastic of box is a good thickness, and it has a metal clasp closure instead of those cheap, often unreliable plastic closures! The $20 price tag I feel is a little on the high side, but better than some others. My main complaint is this is the largest of this specific kind of box that I could find here, and I do need more room inside the box: an inch or two taller, wider, and longer would make this even more functional and versatile box! -Please see my collaged photo of this product (with ruler for sizing)- ... show more

The box is sturdy, with six plastic hinges, a decent quality lockable metal hasp (but only good enough to keep little kids out), and a well-anchored plastic handle. For anyone needing storage for a lot of small tools & dinky parts this should do the job - a good value. UF, I needed something to store a specific tool – my soldering kit. I must have looked at a few dozen different boxes, comparing claimed dimensions against the measured dimensions of my tool, making as good of estimates as I could for wall thickness, usable height of tray and main compartment usable interior dimensions, etc.. This seemed to fit the bill. But the manufacturer’s claimed dimensions of 14 x 8-1/8 x 8-1/8 are optimistic to say the least. The sides and top have ribbing and indents, presumably to increase stiffness but seriously decreasing usable interior volume; the handle rests in its own recess in the top, good if you need to stack anything on it, not so good if you need to maximize available volume for the top tray. For those needing a box that will carry a specific small tool kit, these are the usable interior dimensions: 12-3/16” l. x 5-3/4”w. x 5-11/16” h. (total height). Trays are generally for very small parts but I’ll provide the interior dimensions anyway: 12-11/16” l. x 5 9/16” w. x 2”h., with about 2-9/16” to the handle recess. Deducting for the tray there is 3-3/8” usable height in the main compartment. Hope this helps someone; back to the research grind for me. ... show more

I bought this for a friend who enjoys cake decorating. It has a good amount of space for all of his tools and he likes the tray on top to hold smaller items. So far, it's held up well. This box would also work very well for art supplies.

The fact that it has a lock is a joke, as the top metal latch slides right out, as it can be unlocked, and you have a hole large enough to remove most tools, and then prey open a 3-4 in gap on the opposite end of the toolbox. Even with a padlock. I tried to super glue the metal latch back on, as a peace of mind, but the latch can still unlock and make a gap 3-4 inches wide. So the whole locking mechanism is security theatre, doing nothing more than to make you feel better at night. ... show more

TRUTH FIRST ABOUT PLASTIC TOOL BOXES. Plastic tool box dimensions are deceiving! The have molded supporting ridges inside. Subtract about 2" approx. off the box dimensions from the box front length dimensions for the internal length. This is a 14" box, but in reality it measures 12" true internal size. The depth of the box is deceiving also. The tray goes down about 2.5" deep from the top edge of the front of the open box with the tray in the box. The bottom space is 3.5" deep approx. from the bottom of the tray to the bottom of the box with the tray in. So beware of mfg. dimensions that measure outside bulges, etc. Also most internal tray handles are engineered badly because they don't have a high ridge under the handle that prevents things from falling through under the handle. Some plastic boxes hold a lot of weight but not like metal boxes which are good for indoors. The advantage plastic boxes have, is they dont rust from scratched bottoms sliding over a garage floor. This true 12" box has a tight latch and is sturdy. I use this for small gunsmithing parts and specialty boxes. One I label as my Smith and Wesson pistol tools, another Remington 700. I have one for shotgun cleaning patches etc. and another for pistol cleaning. The top tray holds small parts etc. I like the fact that this has a sturdy latch and not a molded plastic snap latch. it's a good box for pens, pencils, markers etc. It has a hole next to the latch for a mall padlock. I gave this a four star rating because of the dimensions like other plastic boxes and no lip on the tray to keep higher parts from falling through under the tray handle like most boxes. ... show more
