  • Great Buy
Product works exactly has advertised. comes with everything needed for installation on wooden dog house. The only negative in my opinion is the thermostat controls. Would be easier if adjustments could be made to set temps rather than just low- high. The fan does not cool anything but does keep fresh air going into the dog house with little noise. Dog did not mind one bit. We keep the fan running 24/7 during the summer months. The heater works great. I added some sheet metal behind the heater for good measure to make sure the wood didn’t get too hot. The heater does get hot to touch, but not hot enough to burn anything or the dog. We only use it when needed. I have been using this thing for almost a year now with no problems. It is currently 16 degrees with snow and real feels in the single digits and is a steady 45 degrees inside the dog house. It goes without saying if you have a cheap un-insulated dog house the heater probably won’t function to your liking in extremely cold conditions. Ours is a wooden framed house with insulation throughout, metal wall panels, and shingle roof. Holds heat well. I would recommend this to anyone with outside pets. ... show more

  • Now a Thumbs down
Secord review: stopped working after the first year. Really cost to much to only last a season. I ended up purchasing a heat mat for them and it works great. First review: Works great. We installed this in a wooden (6'×6'×4' deep) shipping box that was converted into a cat house for 6 outdoor cats. The box was devided (upstairs/downstairs) shingled, insulated, put in a window, doors and 2 pet doors. We built the Akoma Heat & Breeze in downstairs because heat rises. Heats the space greats. ... show more

  • MY DOGS LOVE THIS THING!!!
A great product that delivers. We built a new doghouse for the boys recently and installed this unit. It was simple to install and even more simple to adjust. Normally, I would bring the dogs inside if it was going to be a cold one. After installing this, I knew it was going to be a cold night one night and tried to get the dogs to come inside for the night. They looked at me like I was crazy, turned around and went right back into the doghouse! They used to love to come inside the house!! I guess they must like the Akoma. Keep your dogs cozy at all times. After all, they are part of the family too. Money well spent. ... show more

  • Warms doesn't heat and fan only works for cooling
I dont like that the fan doesnt work with the heat. It only works for the fan. The heat just generates from the top. It doesnt get really warm but just warm enough.

  • Great Product and does the job
I have had this product for several weeks and it is a great item for the dog house. It keeps the temperature steady as what you set it at. I opted for a timer when our dog is not outside. Recommend installing a digital temp. gauge to determine what the inside of the dog house is. Easy installation ~ 30 mins ... show more

  • AKOMA Dog Products Heat-N-Breeze - HNB-1001
I have only just installed this product so I can't speak for its performance. I am assuming that it will keep the dog warm and cool. What I want to discuss is the installation process and the general fit and finish. First of all, the instructions could have been better. If I had cut the hole for the vent according to the instructions, I would not have had room for the heat shield that is to be installed above the heater. You should also leave a little space between the heater and the side wall for access to mounting screws. If you don't have the space, so be it. If you have space, use it. A very good thing would be to provide a template and advice about locating the template an appropriate distance from the boundaries. The hole saw provided in the package would not cut through even 1/2" plywood. It stopped cutting halfway through the first wall of my double wall doghouse. I didn't really expect a $40 carbide hole saw, but I hoped that the one provided would cut through 1/2" plywood twice. It did not. All the screws that were provided were flathead screws when they should have been button heads. Flatheads are for countersunk holes and the sheet metal was too thin to countersink effectively. Two of the mounting holes for the heater were blocked by the controls. I had to use hex head wood screws and install them with an open end wrench. I didn't pre drill - that would have meant un-mounting the heater and making a template. The hose clamps were metric - I had to use a metric nut driver to tighten them. Made in China: This is to be expected. There was one thing about the design that I liked. The blank off plate for the vent is interchangeable with the screen. If you don't want to lose one or the other, you can install them both - install the blank-off plate one way in summer and the other way in winter. This involves only two screws so it will be easy. The only tricky part is that you have to remove and discard the fasteners that hold the screen in place in the vent during shipping. The heat shield that gets mounted above the heater is not the same shape as the heater. I know this is being picky, but it would look a lot nicer if it was. To summarize, I know this product is intended to be installed in a doghouse and the dog doesn't care about any of these things. If it keeps him warm in winter and cool in summer I will be satisfied. I would rather have had a better engineered heater - it could easily have been much nicer and the installation much easier if a little more thought had been put into the design. I know some of the things were done to save money, but I would have been happy to pay more for a better product. ... show more

  • This doesn’t work at all!!
Outside is 34 degrees, been running this in an insulated dog house for a hours now… never gets higher than 40 degrees. I didn’t buy this for a 6 degree difference. Save your money, I’m returning this!

  • Durable and Reliable Year Round
Purchased back in 2016 to compliment a Deer Creek divider house. Ran it 6 days a week through the MN weather while monitoring the temperature independently. Set an auto timer to turn on an hour before I put the dog in the kennel in the morning. Which was sufficient time for it to warm up even in extreme cold. Consistent heat and good fan for circulating air during the summer months. I’d rate this product as durable since it lasted nearly 6 years and cost me just about nothing on my electric bill. Thanks for making a good product. I reordered it again. ... show more
