  • Interesting concept, but that's about it...
Color: Charcoal Grey
When I first read about Air Up, I was intrigued and simply had to give it a try. Here's the concept: a flavor pod is situated upon the neck of the bottle, which in turn, releases a fruit scent everytime one takes a sip of the plain water that one would add into the bottle. (Note: the flavor pod and the water never actually come into contact.) However, it's important to note that the flavor pod needs to be depressed while drinking, or you won't get much of a taste. There is a delicate, understated combined flavor and scent, which is a sharp contrast to flavored waters (so, if you're hoping for something more substantial in taste, this product probably won't be for you). There have been claims made that this product is supposed to encourage one to drink more water, but the bottle exclusive to Air Up (which is also not thermal and therefore, will not retain a chilled temperature), is relatively small and you will end up refilling it multiple times a day, so I am unsure of its practicality. Additionally; the need to depress the flavor pod is seemingly awkward to do so while drinking. Bottom line: the concept is interesting, but I am unsure if Air Up is something that I would continuously use once the novelty wears off. There are so many flavor tablets on the market that provide both additional hydration benefits and more substantial taste that I would prefer to utilize those, as well as have my own choice of a bottle that better suits my needs. ... show more

  • Ok water bottle but not easy or comfortable to drink from
Color: Charcoal Grey
I was really looking forward to using this water bottle, I'm terrible at keeping hydrated so I thought the "flavored" water might help. Sadly, I was disappointed overall. The way the bottle functions is very odd. You must sit upright fully and keep the bottle level to drink, which is proving a problem for me since I'm used to water bottles that you tip to drink. It "bubbles" the water when sipping which is not a very pleasant sensation and makes it hard to drink a lot without swallowing gas as well. Also, the water bottle WILL leak if you tip it when drinking (there's a screw on cover for transport that works fine, the leaking is only when that cap is off). The flavor pod does add a distinct flavor to the water but the peach isn't that great tasting (just my opinion, its not a bad flavor, I just don't care for it). I'm looking to try other flavors but there is limited availability on Amazon. Overall, I'm not a big fan. Its not useful if you're not sitting fully upright, so forget relaxing and using it. I've brought it to work (it will be fine while sitting at a desk) and see if I do better at drinking water there at least. I also hope to find some other flavor's to try. ... show more

  • Surprisingly effective
Color: Charcoal Grey
I wasn't sure exactly how effective this design would create the illusion of flavor; however, it's actually quite good at it. To start, the bottle is well made. The no-spill design is effective and the detachable strap is unique and makes it easy to clean. I wish it held a bit more water and was a bit more insulated as it would make it more useful on hot days. The scent pod smells great. The peach scent is really nice on its own. When applying it to the bottle and taking a sip I was really surprised at how well it tricks my brain into feeling like I'm tasting flavor in the water. It's not as though I can separate the taste and scent, it really does taste like the water has flavor. It's very cool. However, not all of the scent transfers into taste. The actual flavor is a bit flat and easily overpowered, for example if you have some mineral taste in your water. I'm not sure if this is a physical limitation or a decision to prevent the flavor from being too strong, but my main complaint with this product is the flavor not having a whole lot of depth. Overall, very novel and interesting design. It's still surprising how well the illusion of flavor works. But, I think currently the flavor is not comparable to something like flavored sparkling water. ... show more

  • My opinion? Not great
Color: Charcoal Grey
Was sort of excited to try this water bottle that seemed to be taking the world by storm. However, it's just sort of stupid, in my opinion. It's not ground breaking, but I suppose it's a little bit novel, since we haven't seen other products take advantage of our olafactory sense over taste for a product that's about taste. This one is one of the company's smaller bottle offerings, but the ring pods fit all size bottles they sell (as of this writing). You stick a scent pod over the bottle, keep the bottle upright, and drink out of the straw. You do believe you are "tasting" what you can smell (in my case Peach) and that's the whole of it. There are little holes in the straw which means it's sort of like drinking out of a cracked plastic straw at a restaurant (unpleasant) but you get used to that pretty quickly. That must be a way to make the water more "flavorful." If you've had flavored zero calorie water, such as Waterloo or La Croix, it's just like that. Mild flavor, no sweetness. You can also use sparkling water in this bottle (duh). So, that's all there is. It's a novelty with very expensive pods. Each pod lasts a couple of days, assuming you drink a lot of water, and then it's time for a new one. The kit I received came with three extra pods, but most of the bottles I've seen for sale here come with at least five, for the same price. Refills, though, are a lot: 3 pods for $10 from this company, and then off-brand pods are about 19 pods for $30. I just think that's really overpriced for scent pods. I think you could probably use essential oils to figure out a way to refill the pod; that would really probably work. I haven't done that, though, and likely will not. I can't see using this bottle much at all when I'm done with my three pods. I drink water and I still don't mind artificial sweeteners infrequently, so I'll probably stick with what I already do. I think this is just a novelty and will be surprised if it's still popular or, in the USA's case, MORE popular here in a year's time. ... show more
