I knew the helmet lights up, but I had no idea exactly how customizable it is. You can fine tune the visor color with several color options, including multi color and cycling colors. The ear piece color changes independently of the visor color and the side mounted flash light rotates up and down. Some assembly is required, but the instructions were easy and I had the whole thing done in a couple minutes. You're definitely buying this for the helmet, but the included suit is very decent quality also and cute. I would add that the size 14 is a bit snug and short for the average 14 year old. My 9 year old son is obsessed with outer space. He wanted a "real" astronaut costume, with an actual helmet for halloween. He is thrilled with this. Other costumes have a kind of cloth that covers the head with a cut out for the face as the helmet - he didnt want that at all, he wanted a realistic helmet. This costume fit the bill perfectly. Space themed Halloween this year, we were impressed with this costume's superb helmet, but the uniforms are also top-notch -- true to the sizing chart for our 13-year-old (XL) and 9-year-old (L). A cheaper option would have worked. But the lights and sound effects mean the kids are genuinely excited to show these off -- daughter already using the side flashlight for reading, and they put them on early to give Grammy a preview :-) I imagine they'll continue to play in them long after Halloween, and they're nice enough to hand down to younger cousins. My 6 year old son's only request was a hard helmet that opened. This fit the bill, and so much more! I didn't realize how many different light options there were! It is important to fit the helmet properly, or it will sit on the child's shoulders, and it is rather heavy. We were going to put pool noodles on as cushions until we realized you could adjust the height of the inside of the helmet also. 1* off simply because the helmet didn't align properly when put together.
