  • Great Remake of 2 GBA Classics
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Re-Boot Camp
Overall fantastic remake collection of 2 great strategy games. If you own a Switch and like Strategy games, then this is a no brainer. STORY: I don't ever do much in this section as I loathe spoilers. It's simple at first, but has underlying tones and enemies that pop up as you keep playing. Start with the first game, then move to the next. If you do them out of order, it loses the story. GAMEPLAY: Turn based strategy. This is not a RPG. You will not level up your units. You capture areas to generate income with which you can create more units at various locations, such as airports and factories. Different units have different roles, such as artillery firing over distances, tanks being up front brute force, and infantry being squishier, but easily the most important as they capture areas, including capitals which end the match immediately. This is a 90's era battle simulator done through turns and a colorful art style. CO's (Commanding Officer's) have powers that gradually fill up and can be activated by you. There are a plethora of them to choose from, such as Andy with his healing of units, Max with his mechanized strength boost to tanks, subs, etc, and Grits boost to long range attacks. Some CO's also have passive buffs and debuffs, such as longer or shorter range, like Grit and Max respectively. GRAPHICS: Cartoony art style may not be for everyone. I like it, but prefer the 2D style and definitely the darker style of Advance Wars Days of Ruin from the DS. It's not bad though and some animations I do really enjoy, such as the rocket launcher blanketing an enemy with rockets. EXTRAS: There are alot of modes and unlockables. As you do better on missions you will get better rankings, which will give you points to spend in Hachi's Shop. You can purchase new maps, CO's, music, artwork, etc. You have local and online VS modes. There are also AI maps you can play on in the War Room and there are ALOT of maps to unlock in those modes through the shop. You can also design your own maps and play on them. So, you definitely get alot of content in this package. OVERALL: Again, definitely a must but for strategy fans. If you're curious and haven't tried a game like this before, it's a great entry as well. It has a good tutorial and hints throughout if you need them. You can skip the hints if you don't need them as well. There are also 2 different modes with classic and a more casual diificulty setting. 2 great games both with a ton of content over hundreds of hours for $60. It's a steal in comparison to many other games. 5/5 easily. Now we just need Dual Strike and Days of Ruin...or maybe a new entry. ... show more

  • Better than I remembered
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Re-Boot Camp
The updated graphics and animation a fantastic. The main menu allows the player to reach both games, the extra maps, and hachi’s shop easily. One glaring improvement that im very disappointed wasn’t in the game was an online vs mode. The gave the game a lan via Bluetooth but no online vs. I think if they had made a way for people to schedule games with others around the world it would have been have made advance wars Nintendo’s new PVP product. I could have even seen them holding advanced wars tournaments were people tune in and watch others play in the same style as Pokémon is now. ... show more

  • Fun game when you just wanna mess around
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Re-Boot Camp
Game is fun especially if you loved the gameboy advance games, it’s not super deep kinda like when you wanna play an addictive app but has long story and multiplayer. Great game when your not sure what to play.

  • Everything is there from the originals but nothing to bring it into the modern day.
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Re-Boot Camp
If you just want the original games with a fresh new look on a modern platform, you'll be set. But if you were hoping for updates that bring it up to the modern standard for games like open online play or leaderboards or even having the correct unit colours in war rooms, you'll be disappointed unfortunately. Still well worth it though for any advance wars fan. ... show more

  • A Classic Legend Reborn…
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Re-Boot Camp
The media could not be loaded. Although I didn’t play the original Advance Wars games until several years after their initial release, I had managed to play through all four of them. When word surfaced that they would be reviving the series again I was ecstatic because they were easily my favorite games on the Game Boy Advanced. This new title holds true to the original games. Aside from the graphics enhancements and a few minor adjustments to combine the two games, they are as difficult as the original titles, but also offer a better online front for multiplayer. I’ve put twenty hours into this remake so far and have nothing but praise for the game. It is addictive in a healthy way; after completing a mission, it is hard to not want to continue for one more, and then one more… I recommend this game to everyone of all ages that enjoy strategy based games. It is like chess, only with dozens of pieces that all move every single turn. ... show more

  • Great Game, but...
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Re-Boot Camp
Great Game, but the graphics could have been better. Don't get me wrong, personally, I like the new graphics, but they could have been better. Update: I do like how they redesigned some of the Black Hole Army Units. I like how the Battleship and Cruiser have their cannons and missile launcher, respectively, concealed under inside the ships. ... show more

  • Amazing re-boot of the classic
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Re-Boot Camp
Played through to about the 8th mission so far. Pros: 3d graphics are very nice. Sami. Character animations are smooth. Sami. The "laughing" animations are back when destroying enemy units. Sami. Has guided help if you never played, or haven't played in a long time. Sami. Mechanics are exactly the same as the classic. Sami. Multiplayer. Sami. Cons: Only some dialog is voice-acted. The process buying things from Hachi is annoying. Sami isn't available for every mission. If you like tactical games it's a great buy. ... show more
