  • Great hiking shoes/disposable work shoes for those doing ecology research
Size: 7.5 Color: Black/Black/Carbon
I do forest science/ecology data collection for a living, so I regularly bushwhack several miles in rough conditions every day. These shoes held up for an entire work season before the outsole wore too much and the sides started to tear open. They held up better than any hiking boot I have ever used while being much more comfortable. If you don't need the ankle support of a boot, I'd recommend using a pair of trail runners like these. The other option for this line of work is you can drop $250 for a pair of forester boots that will last several years but are very cumbersome. I prefer trailrunner tactic and these are a pretty good damn pair for the price. ... show more

  • Comfortable and Durable Hiking Shoes
I've been wearing the Adidas Men's Terrex Ax3 for several hikes now, and they are excellent. These shoes are comfortable right out of the box, providing great support and traction on various terrains. The build quality is impressive, and they have held up well in different weather conditions. Highly recommend for anyone looking for reliable hiking footwear! ... show more

  • Good rugged work/hiking sneaker, not as breathable as hoped
Size: 10.5 Color: Black/Black/Carbon
I bought 3 pairs of trail running/walking shoes to use as work shoes on my small urban farm. I prefer trail running sneakers for this type of work because they tend to be more breathable, lighter, and easier to slip on/off than work boots. I work 12-14 hrs a day, on my feet 90% of the time, so a light weight shoe is a huge benefit. I don’t use tractors or other motorized equipment on the farm so I’m not particularly worried about buying a shoe to protect my feet from serious injury, making heavy boots overkill most of the time. The 3 shoes I bought were these ASICS Frequent Trail Running shoes, Columbia Fairbanks Low Sneaker, and these Adidas Terrex Ax3. I bought all in size 10.5, which is my normal sneaker size, and I tend to wear size 10 in hiking/work boots. I’ve bought 2 types of Adidas Terrex sneakers in the past - the CC Voyager in size 10.5, which was my absolute favorite shoe (but the most minimal), and the Tracerocker Trail Running shoe, which fit tight in the toe box area to the point where I probably should have returned them to get a size 11. After a week of daily use on the farm, here is how these Ax3 trail running shoes compare to the above mentioned shoes. Much more rugged than the ASICS or Tracerockers, the least breathable compared to all the other shoes, good heavy duty tread, and the best cushioning between the heal and ankle. The toe box is almost too tight, but not nearly as much as the Tracerockers (but my toes really splay out so this might not be a concern for others). Also the poor breathability was kinda a bummer but it’s a bit of a trade off since these are the most “substantial” of all the shoes, making these a great choice for rugged trail hiking, or in my case, work on the farm. They don’t seem to have good arch support, but the sole is thick rubber, making them a good choice for when I’m doing construction and walking around nails/screws. Also there is extra protection around the outside footbed and a decent toecap - while not a composite or steel toe, this heavy rubber outer layer gives an extra bit of safety and I wouldn’t be too worried about dropping a moderately heavy object on my toes while wearing these shoes (think a log/concrete block/wooden post, etc). All in all I’m very happy with these shoes, I just need to swap them out for another pair half way through the day to let my feet breath a bit. ... show more

  • Comfortable shoes and good quality
Size: 12 Color: Black/Black/Carbon
Quality of materials is good for today's standards. They fit good and the toe box needs some breaking before feeling comfortable. The rubber sole is also of good quality, sturdy and with a solid grip especially when hiking or walking in general. I like the waterproof technology even though I don't understand if it's the fabric or a special coating applied to it. The shoes are overall comfortable and at the moment do not need any inserts. Probably they will, the ones they come with are somewhat thin but that is still to be seen. I also wear them to work for long hours standing and walking as floor restaurant shift manager and have no complaints about. ... show more

  • Going back for 2nd’s!
Size: 9 Color: Core Black/Core Black/Carbon
These are solid shoes! I work in law enforcement and needed comfortable shoes that were durable, supportive, and comfortable for long days standing and driving. These hit all the requirements and then some. I’ve had the first pair for just shy of 3 years. I know that’s way longer than I should wear a pair of shoes, but they were working. As I mentioned, I used them primarily on pavement with occasional treks through woods or wherever our nightly adventures took us. Some of the fabric around the ankle has frayed and some of the adidas logos fell off, but the shoe is still functionally the same. The sole has held up phenomenally! I can’t remember a time I truly tested any waterproofness, but they’re not advertised as such anyway. Get them. They’re the best. Oh and I added no-tie laces to mine which worked out even better! ... show more

I love the Terrex shoe line. They fit well, the shoe is durable, and they look good. They also hold up well to an active teenager.

  • Allmost perfect
Size: 10 Color: Core Black/Core Black/Carbon
Great show stability build runs nice really great sole , perfect looks , perfect grip , well built , black on black The younger of the shoe drive me crazy though it has extra padding and would go over my pants all the time makeing my pants sit Werid on the shoe the ax2 dosent do this so I’ll just stick with them or if I get brave I might get another pair and cut the tongue down and see it In shorts or work out clothes it looks fine Defently get I Tryed them again for another chance the tongue is crazy but also this time they appear to be deformed , the sole of the right shoe rolls and leans to the front right , it’s very noticeable so I have to send them back ... show more
