  • The Real Deal if you want to drive your Sports Car in the Winter
I have a BMW 135i N55 with a twin scroll turbo. Starting it up in the cold under 28F isn't great. The first 60 seconds of startup for a car is the most damaging because the oil has to rush to protect sensitive components higher up away from the oil pan. Mine sounds like it wants to throw the turbo into the house and ping off into the attic. That's the issue when we're talking about colder temperatures under 40F degrees for gasoline cars. Especially performance vehicles. Here is what I did: 1) I purchased one of these and took some OxiClean total interior wipes to the oil pan. You may need something tougher like brake cleaner if it is bad. 2) Applied Permatex 81160 High-Temp Red Silicon to the oil pan. 3) Applied more red silicon to the wiring area where it goes into the heating pad to better protect it from moisture. 4) Stuck it to the oil pan and added yet more red silicon along its edges. 5) Let it sit in the garage over night with a space heater fanning the front of the car in the garage which got to about 50F. Next day I left it outside in the driveway after my morning commute and had to drive that evening with a temp. of 18F outside. Plugged the pad in for 20min. Car started smoothly just as if it was 70F outside. I was amazed and cannot recommend this product for anyone into cars or just desire that solid extra assurance. ... show more

  • It works to a point
I had mounting surface so clean it was sterile, lol. I stuck it to the front bottom part of my 5.3 Chevy Tahoe. I also added sealant around the edges. So far it works pretty much as described. I turn it on for 15-20 minutes on days colder than 40 degrees F. The valvetrain "tick" is pretty much gone after a few seconds unlike the 30-40 seconds before the install. However it seems after 30 seconds or so the normal cold start valve lifter "tick comes back. I assume because although the oil was pre-warmed, as the oil circulates through the cold cast iron block, maybe it cools it back down to create a thicker oil and a tick again. Or I just may be over sensitive to the subtle ticks and noises in my vehicles. ... show more

  • Little pad big heat
Kept a 60 gallon fuel tank at 40 deg f when the ambient air temp was 0 degrees f.

  • Working Great
These are a great bang for your buck item. I am not using them for their intended purpose, while I am using them to heat an oil tank, it is a knife quenching oil tank. They heat up quicky, and I made SURE the metal was clean so they seem to have adhered nicely. As far as I’m concerned, these were a GREAT purchase! ... show more

  • Dead on Arrival.
Plugged it in for the first time after installing to warm the oil before the oil change. Didn’t even bring the oil up one degree. Junk. Don’t buy!! Waste of money to buy and time to install. For the review, ease of installation and adhesion quality don’t mean Jack if the dang thing doesn’t even produce heat. Pathetic product. ... show more

  • Heats up the oil like a champ.
It was a piece of cake to install and actually works great. I put it on a 6 cylinder 3.0L E90 BMW. Also, I connected it to an Alexa plug, so I can tell Alexa to warm up the car an hour or two before I need to go in the winter. It seems to have solved my problem of the cams ticking from frequent short trips never getting the engine up to temp. Now it gets up to operating temperature right away. The gas mileage went up +5 mpg for short trips, the cam tick is gone and the heater gets hot way faster. ... show more

  • Easy to install
Just installed this heater pad on my car. I don't yet know how well it works. I thoroughly cleaned the underside of my oil pan. I then adhered the pad to the oil pan and then rolled it in place with a small hand roller. To help ensure that I doesn't come off, I used high temperature gasket seal around the edges. Once the nighttime temperatures drop below 20 degrees, I will see how well it works. ... show more

  • great product
Mounted on my Escalade oil pan. ( I used a wire brush to clean the surface first, very important ) it works great the engine is not warm but NOT cold when starting. Lastly you need to park out of any wind. It will steel most of your heat.
