Description

A Practical Guide to Full-Time RV Living Motorhome & RV Retirement Startup Exactly six years ago my spouse Shirley and I have both retired from our previous careers, leaving us with quite a lot of extra time in a mostly empty house throughout the day. That’s when we decided we wanted to travel. The only problem was we did not know what the best way was to get from point A to point B.Needless to say, we needed to find a way that was comfortable for the two of us, given our conditions; we did not want our sense of adventure to be limited by something as unimportant as physical pain, after all. That is when we spoke to our neighbors, old family friends who had just returned from an RV camping trip with another couple. The more we learned about traveling in an RV, the more my wife and I were convinced that was the solution to our conundrum. We had some savings, we had the time, and we had the ability to go wherever we wanted in the world with the safety aspect of carrying a piece of home with you. Thus we decided to start our new life in an RV on the road.We have been living the RV life for the last five years now, and I must admit that these five years are the best years of our life so far. I also must admit that not everything has been glorious and fun, yes, we have faced our fair share of problems and hiccups on various fronts, but looking back, they all were great learning experiences. However, RV living isn’t just for retirees; it can be for anyone who wants to enjoy the freedom of living on the road although this doesn’t mean that full-time RV living is for everyone.Whether you are retiring soon and want some adventure, have been retired for a while and want a change of scene, or simply want to change your way of life to something simpler, living full-time out of an RV can be your answer. In this book, we are going to show you what is involved in RV living, how you can get started and what you need to do to live an affordable full-time life on the road while enjoying the wonderful sights. Hopefully, this book will help you avoid the rookie mistakes we had made when we started out and make your transition smoother and more enjoyable. Here is a Quick Glimpse of What we Covered In this Guide. How to Decide if RV living is Right for You.Pros & Cons of Full-Time RV LivingThe cost to Full-Time RV LivingAffordability of RV Living Life StyleHow to Prepare for Full-Time Life on the road5 Step Transition ProcessHow to Pick and Buy the Right RV for youVarious Types of RV’s and their estimated priceFactors to Consider when Choosing a New or Used RVUsed RV Buying ChecklistHow Everything Works in an RVBest way to Insure & Protect your InvestmentHighway System, Signs and ParkingLearning to Drive an RV, Best Practices Tips and TricksHow & What to Pack for Full-Time RV LivingUtility SourcesInternet, Cell phones, Mail, Banking, State Residency, Etc.Health Insurance and EmergencyHow to Make your RV More LivableBest Way to Cook, clean and protect your RVBest way to Handle Sewer TankHow to Stay Warm in the Winter and Cool in the SummerSafety in RV LifeHow to be prepared for Emergency & Severe WeatherTraveling with your PetsHow to Pick the Best Places to Stay (Boondocking, RV Parks, and Campgrounds)How to Perform Simple, Easy Maintenance & RepairsList of Tools You Should HaveHow to Save Money and Live ComfortablySo let’s get started and take a look at whether or not this lifestyle is right for you. • Detailed!
My husband and I always joke that when we retire (if we ever will be able to—ha--or have the desire :), we are going to get an RV and hit the road going from storage auction to storage auction; can you tell which show we love? If we were to really do such a thing, A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO FULL-TIME RV LIVING: MOTORHOME AND RV RETIREMENT STARTUP by Jack Freeman and Shirley Freeman (full-time RV-ers) is the book, as far as I am concerned, my husband and I would need to read, study, take notes from and follow, and you need to read, study, take notes from and follow if you are considering this lifestyle. Every possible detail is covered, from how to manage all the steps getting you to that lifestyle to everything you could possibly need to know once you are there: costs; RV clubs; tips; animal care concerning the lifestyle if you have a pet or pets that will travel with you; how to work the highway system and what that system even means; maintenance of your RV and your lifestyle; doctors and how to work with them since you will be on the road; all the different levels and kinds of places to stay while living in your RV; and how to plan ahead; and even, as to where to eat out and how to park to do it or if it is even possible at a particular restaurant you have chosen for your particular RV. And those are just a few examples of the topics covered. To boot, there are lovely pictures showing the lifestyle and how comforting and homey it can be to cartoonish pictures that are still detailed, fun and inviting. ... show more

  • A great overview of fulltime rv living
A great look at preparing and going fulltime in an RV. This book is a thorough as it could be with out being too long. The part that was a little thin was the financial. It's probably not possible to cover everything. Overall it's an enjoyable read, very informative.

  • What an awesome book!
I had a friend that gave me a RV and I wasn’t sure just where to go. I needed to find out how much it would cost to live on the road full-time for a while to travel to different places while I write online. Preparing for this journey is something that I needed information on. A friend of mine told me about this book and I decided to buy it. I am really glad I did. This book is jammed packed of all kinds of great information. The part I enjoyed the most was finding out what campsites to avoid and how I would go about getting my mail. One of the things I never considered was how I was going to do my banking and taxes. This book covers everything you need to know to venture out into living in an RV full time. If this is something you are thinking of doing, you just have to get this book. ... show more

  • Interesting read for people looking to live in a RV
In this day and age there is so much info on the internet that I believe I already had an understanding of most of this but it was interesting to see it in print.

  • Great book for starting out!
I just finished this book and highlighted most of it! I am not totally new to RVing but am planning to go full-time in the next 6 months or so. This book covered everything you need to know about getting started with RVing! I really learned a lot! Would also be helpful for those already on the road but fairly newbies. I highly recommend this book! ... show more
