What a gorgeous little book this is, and at an unbelievably low price. This story goes deep into my soul, and as of today, I've read it four times. After this year, I am making a conscious decision, and declaring that reading this gem is now part of my Christmas tradition. And that's what I love about it, in that it extols all those beautiful emotions in all of us. Upon completing it just today, I had tears of joy--literally--as I turned the last page. My feelings were bursting. I'm so glad I live in a time and place where I can indulge this simple pleasure, in peace. Of course, what makes this particular edition special is that it's a facsimile of the original print. This includes the original typeface, with it's misaligned typesetting. Then there are the charming illustrations, which sweep you back to that romanticized time in which tradition perhaps held greater value, and the world was filled with beautiful people, living by hope in our better angels. And I enjoy the Christmas season for that very reason, partly nostalgic, partly spiritual. This book accentuates all of that. Back when The Book-of-the-Month Club was a thing (oh, how I miss that), I bought a hardcover Dickens set, six books in all, that did this same thing with each volume, used the original typeface. I still own that set. One of those books was CHRISTMAS STORIES, all of Dickens' Christmas short stories in one volume. Of course, "A Christmas Carol" was included in it; the first story, actually. And that portion of the book looked identical to this, including those illustrations. If you're into fine editions of books, editions that celebrate the idea of books themselves, this is an excellent buy. The small size, slightly larger than your flattened hand, gives it a special charm, which makes it, I think, a beautiful Christmas gift. If I hadn't already given a couple of other editions as gifts in previous years, this would be the one I'd be wrapping. What a great story! __________________________ ... show more

    • A Faithful Reproduction of a First Addition
THE timeless classic about redemption is carefully reproduced from the first addition in word, illustration and hardbound size. I bought one for the family and one to give as a gift. This thoughtfully crafted story that is relatable to all people is to be cherished and this well produced reproduction is a great way to enjoy it. Used first editions are selling for as much as $25k which is out of my reach but having this reproduction is a great add to our family collection. Great read, great reproduction and great value. Adorable size, opens easily, binding not too tight, pages smooth and pictures great. Words are smaller, not a bother for me but I wouldn't get it for an elderly person because of that

I purchased this item because I saw the film, the man who invented Christmas, which is about how Charles Dickens wrote a Christmas Carol. Seeing the first edition print in that film, I thought it was absolutely beautiful. I always wanted to get a reproduction of it. This copy is a perfect replica from the illustrations to the liner notes and everything. If you’re a fan of the story or just like having a beautiful edition book this is a great one for you. ... show more

As I state above, this is a very nice book that indeed appears to be truly a faithful reproduction of the original first edition, including the correct size of the original first edition, first printing. I performed some research, and found the size of the original first edition, first printing, specified to be, from one source, Foolscap octavo (6¾" by 4¼"), and from another source Foolscap octavo (6 5/16 x 4 1/16 inches; 160 x 102 mm). This is the size of this book, and thus this indeed appears to be truly a faithful reproduction of the original first edition, first printing, including the illustrations within the first edition by John Leech, four in color and four in black and white. The binding (cover) appears to be just like that of the original first edition. I had never read the book, but have been familiar with the ‘original’ movie (original to me) starring Alastair Sim since I was young, and of course, The Muppets Christmas Carol, and I enjoy watching both movies each year. So, when I found this edition of the book, especially at such a low price, I immediately purchased four copies, one for myself, and one for each of my young grandchildren, and I am thoroughly enjoying reading my copy. BTW, the print is quite legible, nice and dark, and easily read. The only negative is regarding the bar code sticker on the back of the book; it should have been placed on the clear plastic wrapper. However, the sticker peeled off cleanly, leaving no glue residue that I can see. ... show more

    • Palm size!!!!
I know that it’s my fault for not reading the dimensions but it never occurred to me that this would be palm sized and not full sized. Just wanted to caution others if that’s an issue for you. Otherwise, nice book.
