  • Good replacement remote
Edition: Short
Use: I had a remote that I used for my XBox One then my Series X. I really do not know how old it is, but it had started to give me problems. I purchased the 8Bitdo remote to replace my old one. So far, I'm happy with the results. It immediately connected to my XBox Series X, every function working as intended. Below are some pros/cons before I give a full summary. Pros: - Price: I paid right around $20USD for it. I think this is well worth the price if you need a multimedia remote instead of using your controllers. - Quality: The remote feels really well built. I've used other 8Bitdo products in the past and have had no issues. I believe this should be no different - Buttons: I really like the feel of the D-pad on this remote compared to the original. They are more like a true D-pad than a touchpad. I also like the backlit buttons. This makes using the remote in the dark much easier. And, for me, it makes it easy to find if I sit it on my bed. A little movement and it lights up. Cons: - Size: This is, as you can see in the picture, much smaller than the original remote. While I like the placement of the most commonly used buttons, some of the media buttons can be harder to hit if you have bigger hands. - Battery compartment: When I first put batteries in, the back was very difficult to remove. It took a few good hits on my hand to break it loose. It is still a bit hard to get off, which isn't a huge deal, but it is a little annoying. - XBox logo sticker: The XBox logo at the top of the remote is a sticker, so it does not light up. Not a huge deal unless you are fumbling with it in the dark. With the sticker on, it is easy to locate, but if it were to fall off, I could see this being a bit of a downside. Summary: Overall, I really do like this remote. It immediately connected to my XBox right after putting batteries into the remote. Everything functions as it should. I am still getting used to the difference in size compared to the old remote, but the primary buttons I use are comfortable to use and located very well. The backlit buttons are nice, I just wish the XBox logo had been backlit as well. The battery cover is hard to remove right out of the box and still is a bit hard to remove. This is good for drops, but It can be hard to remove with only one hand, unlike the older remote. If you are looking for a good media remote for your XBox, this is a good one to consider, especially at the $20 range. I'll most likely grab another one for the other room at some point so I can keep one in each room. This is one remote I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great product!
Edition: Short
The weight, the buttons, the functionality w/series s, durable and stylish. The buttons are “clicky”, so you can feel when the button activates. Also, the remote is backlit during motion. I can’t think of any REAL cons. I just need to relearn the button placements vs my previous remote.

  • Awesome remote
Edition: Short
**Editted - the IR receiver on my Xbox was broken and needed replaced. This remote is awesome. Great IR blaster and works from anywhere in my room even when not pointed towards the Xbox. The remote also has better button layout and clickiness than the PDP remote. I will be returning the PDP remote instead. ** Prior review - Motion buttons work well but the remote itself will not direct the Xbox as desired. I have a One S and it does not register any commands from this remote. Will try again but likely will return this. ... show more

  • Best Xbox media remote!
Edition: Short
Some reviewers have said you have to point this directly at the TV. I don't have to do that with the Xbox Series X console. I can point it at the living room ceiling and it still controls the Xbox. Some reviewers have said that it doesn't control the TV volume. That might be the way they have things set up. I have a my soundbar hooked up to my TV, and the remote volume keys work just fine with the soundbar turned on. Some reviewers say that the media forward, backward, skip, etc. buttons do not work but they work for me just fine when I stream YouTube on the Xbox. So I'm not sure if they only work for certain apps and not others. I have not tried it with the Amazon Music app or Tube app yet, but I suspect it will work just fine. All in all this is a great remote. Pros: 1. Well made, nice pebble plastic feel to buttons and case. Definitely not cheap. 2. Responsive keys, with a good click feel. 3. Guide button (below the B key) , which can be programmed for various functions, not just the guide. 4. Buttons light up when you lift the remote, and fade out after a few seconds, which is just the right amount of time. 5. Saves batteries on XBox controller since you are not using it for streaming, just for games. 6. Battery cover slides off and on nicely, with a nice click when closed. Cons: 1. The home (Xbox) button looks nice, but does not light up. But it's large and white so you can't miss it. 2. The home (Xbox) button feels more like rubber. Since it does not light up like the other keys, it would have been nice if the button was the same material. But it does stand out with the glossy raised surface. Glad I chose this remote! ... show more

  • Awesome remote control for my Xbox One.
Edition: Short
I was tired of my Xbox One controller batteries dying from using it to watch Netflix, You Tube, Amazon, Hulu, Peacock, Max etc. This remote works great. No set up needed. Just put the batteries in which are included and you are good to go! Super fast responsive buttons with no lag or delay time. Back lit keys are touch sensitive and easy to see. It has the same button layout as the Xbox game controller ( X,Y,B,A, Home etc buttons ) along with directional pad and pause, play, forward etc buttons for easy media control. The volume controls require a Kinect or a IR emitter cable which will also enable voice commands to control your device. I skipped those options and just use my tv remote for volume controls. ... show more
