  • Check all reviews before buying anything
I'm being generous with the 4 star, but I'm basing this off overall. I charged my battery to full even shows probably about 15 20 min it's about to die. Speed 4 and 5 are the same. My 30lb trolling motor lasted for hours n a bit faster then this 46lb. It's quiet I give you that.

  • Do not buy. Waste of money.
Motor is not watertight. Once filled with water it smoked the motor. Worse, is that the epoxy holding the magnets is not water resistant. One magnet let go and slammed into another magnet taking a chunk out. This sent shrapnel all over the inside of motor housing. Nightmare. Do not be tempted.

  • Charging this motor
I just ordered this motor. How do you charge it? Doesn't say on the specs... Do I need to buy a battery?

  • Can’t recommend, works though
Got it off warehouse at a good price. Unit is very flimsy and has plastic wing nuts that tighten on the shaft to position it. The wing nuts when tightened , will twist the wing nuts completely off. The “tilt” bracket flexes so much, it will not stay in place with the slightest movement or pressure. The transom mount is some kind of “cast” material and it has stress cracks in it, even though it doesn’t appear to have been installed prior. It’s just incredibly cheaply made and will require some modifications to use and maintain. The good thing about it is it’s really fast. The controller head heats up to much my comfort. Had I payed full price, I would have returned it. ... show more

  • You're not going to create a big wake but it'll get you to your spot eventually.
It worked well. Not bad for the money. Seems reliable and halfway rugged.

  • Nah
Worked for 35 seconds then It died. Battery was fine, one of the windings in the motor must have melted because I only ran this on 3s lipos. Motor had no continuity. Pissed I had to modify this because I would have straight up returned it

  • Beware of the little pin
There is a little pin that you use to install the propeller and it came out and left us stranded in the water. My husband had to make his own pin when we got home

  • Well built, high performing trolling motor works great with our 4-person inflatable
Review of: **U-BCOO 8 Speed Saltwater Transom Mounted Electric Trolling Motor Fishing Boat Outboard Motor (46-lb thrust)** I am using this motor with an Index Excursion 4 inflatable boat and have been very pleased with it so far. I purchased the motor mount kit from Intex and also a 35Ah sealed battery and a case for it with a battery monitoring system (shunt). We recently went out fishing with my son, wife, and myself, a total weight of about 400 pounds plus some gear and the battery. The motor performed quite well - very quiet (especially at low speeds) and had pretty good thrust even in some windy conditions. I did have a problem at first since I had wired a fuse inline and was using a 10amp fuse - as soon as I turned the speed up to level 3 (out of 5) it blew the fuse. Fortunately, I had brought a few spares with us, so I swapped it out for a 15 amp fuse. Based on the readings from my battery monitor, it seems to use around 2-3amps on speed 1, about 5-6amps for speed 2, 7-8 for speed 3, and then it jumped way up to 15-16amps for speed 4. I don't think I ever got it up to speed 5, since I didn't want to blow my fuse again. The speeds don't seem to be evenly spaced, at least not based on power draw. I have thick enough wiring that I can probably go up to 30 or 40 amps with no issues, but haven't tried using a fuse that high to see what the draw is for speed 5. Once you know the power draw of the motor, it is fairly simple to determine how long your battery will last. With a 35Ah battery, you can draw down to 50% charge fairly safely, which means you can use about 17-20Ah. Running the boat on speed 1 should last a good six hours or more. Speed 2 maybe three hours, etc. Adjusting the trim is easy with a simple lever/latch on the support. I also really like that the handle telescopes out a few extra inches, as this is more comfortable to hold from within the boat when with it retracted. I do wish there was a case or something for transporting the motor. I am using the box it came in right now, but something a little less bulky would be nice. And a simpler way to remove the prop for transporting would also be convenient. It comes with a small wrench to use for attaching it, but this isn't the quickest way to try to remove the prop if you are out in the field. Overall, I was quite pleased with this little motor, and it is providing just what we were looking for - a simple way to move our boat around lakes and reservoirs so my son can fish without one of use needing to row. There is currently no price listed for this motor, but I think $150-$200 is reasonable for this motor compared to some of the other more well known brand names. ... show more
